Friday Racing Tips - Tuncurry Racecourse 08/09/23

Racing returns to Tuncurry this Friday off the back of what has been a great week already in horse racing betting and we have a big nine race card set for the racecourse with a bunch of competitive maidens to kick off the card and then some mixed grade racing with the $50k feature of the day, the Forster Bowling Club Strand Bar & Grill Mdn Hcp in race 7. I am keen to get stuck into things so follow me below for another competitive day of racing!

BEST BET - #11 - Chilli Filly (BEST BET)
We’ve seen this set up too many times to ignore, that being Kris Lees combining with Dylan Gibbons on a first starter that has been worked along slowly in the trials and gets placed at a provincial track for start one. The market seems to be onto it but at odds on she looks a decent bet. She’s had three trials on the bounce and has displayed a nice stride in all, albeit ridden quite quietly. Looks well placed here.

THE DANGER - #5 - Miss Cartel 
Best of the raced is Miss Cartel racing under Andrew Gibbons for the Davies stable and has only had the two career starts but resumed off of a 24 week spell last time where he resumed over the 1250m at Newcastle and looked to return quite strongly when racing wide without cover all run and fading late. She will be fitter and better for that run second up now and strikes a winnable race.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Ranhita
Ranhita should be getting to something of her peak now third up. She resumed from a long 29 week spell at Muswellbrook over the 1000m where she really just retained a fitness benefit off that run after doing it tough and wide all run. She then made big improvements last time out when placing over the 1100m behind Global Empire at Wyong. Will only be fitter and more prepared for a big run third up now.

BEST BET - #5 - Higher Hand
The Doyle and Osmond combination is often a winning one and this looks a familiar setup this time round under Higher Hand who seems to have hit form this prep. He’s had three runs back from a spell this time in and has improved with racing in each before really clicking up last time out when he won over this track and trip to break maiden and did it in a nice bit of time. Draws a good gate again, gets a key claim from Osmond and is hard fit now with that winning feeling under the belt.

THE DANGER - #3 - Shihab 
I think Shihab can atone for last start where he didn’t pull up with any abnormalities but clearly wasn’t himself when racing wide all run after missing the start a length and then just not being able to find much in the straight. Before then he put in a very solid first up effort at Taree when beating all but the winner and now I think will be hard fit third up, ready to win and can hit bakc hard.

VALUE BET  - #11 - More Than Discreet (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
I think that More Than Discreet is going pretty well and comes into this race at a nice price I think due to him pulling up lame last time out. He ran on the speed before fading late at Taree over this distance when pulling up ⅖ lame but prior to then had been putting in two close and solid placings in good time. He looks well placed to hit back hard here and this race isn’t overly strong.

BEST BET - #7 - Pennart (NEXT BEST)
Strong regional maiden this is but I think that Jason Deamer’s Pennart is the front running horse in this field and looks set to peak and shed the tag here third up. He’s had two debut runs to kick off his career and on paper they have both been very good, with good times being run in both and his last run over the 1200m he really got going late to motor home into third. That suggests the extra 200m will do him well and I am keen on his chances here at a nice price.

THE DANGER - #1 - Wild Calm 
You would imagine Annabel Neasham is going to have Wild Calm quite revved up for a return to racing and taing a huge step back in competition after having a few career outtings in town and has been away from racing for quite some time but now comes off a 32 week spell and off the back of two trials where she has been ridden quietly but has looked nice in running. I think she has a good stride about her and Neasham often does this before a big return.

VALUE BET - #14 - Trajectile 
Seeing Kris Lees and Dylan Gibbons combine in some of these softer provincial fields always has to be respected and I think that Trajectile is no exception. He took awhile to come to racing but after a bunch of trials he debuted at Scone over the 1100m where he showed a decent run style throughout the run but was one paced in the straight in what was a solid effort first up. I am expecting sharp improvement second up now and the booking of Dyl Gib signals intent.
