Friday Racing Tips - Wyong 01/09/23

Racing at Wyong and Wyong Cup day is already here with two listed races on the card and the 2023 Carlton Wyong Gold Cup being the feature of the day for a share of $240k prize money as some of the top stayers in the country make their way to regional NSW for a big day of racing. Follow me below as I outline my best betting spots of the day at Wyong!

BEST BET - #6 - Miss Artfire (NEXT BEST) 
Two horse races here and I am keen to be with Kristen Buchanan’s newest import in Miss Artfire who resumes here off of a long 52 week spell since debuting in the country last September on this same race day where she finished down the track in a strong maiden that has produced multiple winners since. She’s got home track advantage here, has been aggressively trialled for her return and think she maps to get the right kind of run here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Drialle 
Drialle is the obvious danger in this race. Short priced favourite here in a not overly strong field for the Quninton stable and his two runs back from a spell have been solid enough to see him peak here. He placed in a strong, big field at Kembla when resuming before finishing midfield in not the most economical of runs last time out and now looks set to peak here third up. I can’t have money on at the price but go close.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Bonus Tempus
Bonus Tempus looks set to run well here at likely at a decent price. He comes into this third up off the back of two runs at Kembla Grange and after running for fitness first up he got trapped wide without cover and faded late in the piece. He draws to be on the right part of the track now and those two first tough runs should have him hard fit and sharp for this. Not sure he wins but should go close.

BEST BET - #3 - Razors (BEST BET)
Razors seems to have come back very sharply for Godolphin and rates as one of the best horses at this meeting relative to the rest of the field. He scored dominantly first up and then went to the Hawkesbury last time out where Christian Reith couldn’t find a spot for him but once he finally did Razors was flying home. Jmac now gets the ride, hard fit third up and maps to lob into a solid spot on the speed, more than likely wins this.

THE DANGER - #1 - Memoria
Memoria maps to be right up top and should get some element of control from out front. I’m always a fan of the runners Kris Lees sends forward and this one run at Newcastle last time out where she did exactly that, finding the front and clocking an all the way win. She meets a stronger field now but will also have upside to come and gets in very light here. Should look the winner a long way.

VALUE BET  - #5 - One Kind 
Not sure One Kind has what it takes to beat off the first two lines of betting here but he is an honest horse for the Kehoe stable who has already won half of his six starts and now comes into this third up and set to peak. He scored dominantly in a nothing field at Tuncurry first up before coming to this track where he got a nice trail behind the speed but was a bit flat in the straight and I think that now, with that run under the belt he will be right to go again and should have a kick in the big straight.

BEST BET - #7 - Hosier
Hosier looks like the leading contender in this field and whilst he is a long favourite he does deserve to be favourite here. He’s been up for some time since coming to the Minnervini stable from Kris Lees but looks like he has needed a few runs until stepping out to this distance range last time out in Saturday company at Randwick where he came from four wide in the straight to chase hard and find the front at the 200m mark and never looked in doubt when crossing the line with more to offer. He looks well placed here and should be strong through the run.

THE DANGER - #4 - Bois D'argent (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Bois D’argent maps to get a very good run from barrier one and it should help him not get too far back in the run which often is to his detriment. He’s had a few runs in very tough company this campaign for Annabel Neasham and has looked strong in each. His last was at Randwick off of a seven week break where he missed the start a length, had one of the toughest runs in the race and still found plenty to come on into third behind the aforementioned Hosier. I think he will get a much better run here from barrier one, will be sharper with the quicker turnaround and is a definite winning chance.   

VALUE BET - #12 - Military Mission 
Always giving respect to the Gai / Bott stable and Military Mission is their lone representative in this race and looks ready to peak here after two runs back from a decently long spell. She needed the run fresh before racing in the Premiers Cup a fortnight ago when only just going down second to the aforementioned Hosier after having to do way more work in the run than the winner. He now steps out an extra 100m in trip which should only aid his cause and the way the stable is going I think he has as good a chance as any here.
