The track conditions at Sandown are looking good for racing, rated a soft 6 at the moment. At Rosehill the track is rated a heavy 8 at this stage so look for runners that like to run in wet conditions. Alma Rise is first-up on Saturday and has placed before when it was last first-up. Last race at Flemington, Alma Rise was right up there in the finish, just placing second. He showed some speed and battled on fairly well. In this race, I think it's got another suitable draw, which should make it tough to beat. In its last start, Alma Rise (56kg) and ended up placing 2nd, just behind Ahuriri (56kg) over 2800m and was right up there. That should be a good form guide for this race and I think it could easily get the win this time. Previously, 1st of 12 at Pakenham Mdn on March 28, 2024, over 2000m. Hasn’t finished outside the top 2 yet so I like it to run a place again.

Bodyguard is first-up on Saturday as well. Previously, it finished 14th of 16 at Rosehill in a Open on March 23, 2024 over 1200m, 6.8 lengths behind Lady Of Camelot (54.5kg). Previously, 4th of 8 at Randwick Open on March 9, 2024 over 1200m. Decent win rate percentage, watch it in the straight. Should enjoy the distance (1100m). Should enjoy running first-up as has been the case in its career.

I like the look of High On Sugar in Race 6 at Morphettville on Saturday. Previously won at Murray Bridge Gh over 1400m, carrying 59.5kg. That was a really good win, so I think High On Sugar should be tough to beat on Saturday too. Before that, High On Sugar finished first at Morphettville Parks in a RST64 on August 17, 2024 over 1000m. Loves dry conditions, the track at Morphettville should be nice. Racing well at the moment, so I like its chances.

It’s another huge week of racing around Australia with Group 1 races on the agenda. On Friday night at Mooney Valley, the Manikato Stakes is the headline race with up to $2,000,000 in prize money up for grabs. I Wish I Win and Hayasugi are the top favourites at the moment.
