Cranbourne continues with Friday night racing and is the feature track of the day. There's a little rain around the area so the current soft 5 rating could change come Friday night. Racing in Rockhampton begins in the late morning and it's a small 6 race card. It's also a soft 5 track. At Wagga, the track is rated a good 4 at the moment but the weather could change that. Awash jumped well and drifted back, finding the line steadily first up without blinkers. It has a solid 1600m record and is second-up on Friday. Last race was after a four-month break, finishing 6th of 9 at Sandown-Hillside on May 8 over 1300m, just 3 lengths behind Scorch while carrying 60.5kg at $21. Previously second-up, Awash finished 2nd of 10 at Donald on August 29 over 1354m, 1.3 lengths behind Gifted Gamer with 59.5kg at $9. Now fitter and ready to figure prominently.

Pepperdine is resuming and aiming for a fifth straight win. The horse goes well fresh and usually stays prominent. Has performed well on this track and is expected to be up front from a decent draw. First-up last prep, Pepperdine won by 3 lengths on this track in a BM60 over 1500m on January 2, beating Srini with 60.5kg at $2.30. Previous first-up win was also on this track, winning by 1.75 lengths in a 0-55 over 1300m on November 21, defeating Yubetido with 59.5kg at $2.90. Definitely one of the main chances on Friday night.

Miss Baturina is a capable type who showed improvement at Albury first up. I think it will only get fitter and has a good gate on Friday, making it one of the better chances today. In its last race, Miss Baturina was 2nd of 12 at Albury on May 10 over 1175m, just 0.5 lengths behind Out Of The Shadows with 56kg at $8.50. Previously second-up, it ran last of 9 at Muswellbrook on August 11 over 1000m, 6 lengths behind Star Magic with 55kg at $26. With plenty of upside, Miss Baturina is a leading chance to take this one out.
