Saturday Racing Tips - Ascot Racecourse 15/04/23

Ascot in Australia is set to host a ten-race card this Saturday. The races range in distance from 1,000 meters to 1,800 meters, with the feature race being The inaugural Tabtouch Quokka, a weight for age race over 1,200 meters offering $4,000,000 in prize money. The total prize pool available for the day is $5,180,000, with the track rated as soft (5) and the rail out three metres for the entire circuit. There’s also the supporting Supremacy Stakes, a 1000-meter sprint race with a prize pool of $125,000. The rail is out +5m, and the track is rated good 4.

BEST BET - #1 - Cosmopolitan Girl (BEST BET)
The Pearce trained Cosmopolitan Girl is flying for Team Pearce and should be hard to beat here, racing against her own age. She ran last saturday over the 1000m here against older horse and she ran second there when assertively running home behind the smart Snowdome. She likes to settle back in the run but finds an even hotter speed here which will suit and I think she will be hard to beat.

THE DANGER - #3 - Rumour Says 
Rumour Says is a big threat in this field for Luke Fernie. She resumed in the race mentioned above when getting back in the field and looking to just need the run when motoring home but fading to finish a couple lengths off of the winner there. If they ride her more forward this time from the inside draw she will look the winner for a long way.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Pot Shot
Pot Shot will improve a lot into this off of her first up run, she came back to the races two weeks ago over the 1000m and she got well back in the field, never really threatening in the run but she was very good late when finding the line strongly. She has a very good second up record and with Pike on they can run a cracker race.

BEST BET - #4 - Miss Field 
Miss Field looks like the leading contender in this race, She ran second to Michelada who is the other danger in this field. She had settled back in a small field there and tried hard to run them down and just couldn’t get there to finish second but it was ever so impressive when she was in defeat there. She finds a more genuine tempo now and she will be one of the strongest. 

THE DANGER - #3 - Michelada
Michelada looks to be the main threat to Miss Field. The Simon Miller trained mare resumed in the midweeks at Belmont where she drifted hard in betting and they backed her to just fade late but she defied that and lead throughout for a narrow win but it was very strong. She gets the inside gate now and from there she will find the front and will be hard to run down.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Supportive (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Supportive has come back in great stead for Neville Parnham. She has scored dominantly in her last two over the 1100m before she went onto the race the Michelada was in mentioned above where she sat outside the speed and tried hard all run but just didn’t have the change up of speed required to go on with them in the last 200m when running third. If they can ride her with a bit of a sit she will be one of the strongest late.

BEST BET - #6 - CiscoJoe (NEXT BEST) 
Ciscojoe goes on top in a tightly contested race for Bernie Miller. The Gelding has placed in both of his last two, with the first being over this track and trip where he just faded late before dropping back to the mile here in a race two weeks ago and just couldn’t get there when running home hard to Mountain Ash. He should be the strongest late here, is rock hard fit and should get a soft run in transit.

THE DANGER - #8 - Flower In The Wind
Flower In The Wind comes back to the 1800m and she has found a very winnable race here after going out in distance a bit abruptly, going from the 1500m to the 2200m when she raced three weeks ago and she closed that race off very well when running from off a hot speed to end up third. The form from that race has been franked by a few who ran last week. She should still be fit and will be strong late.

VALUE BET - #10 - Piccola Signora
Piccola Signora can jump well and settle closer in the run. She ran in the Mountain Ash two weeks ago where she fell back to near last in the run and she was never a winning threat but she ran home very strongly late to land up fifth. She gets her chance to be up near the speed now and if she is she will be contending this race.
