Saturday Racing Tips - Bendigo Racecourse 01/04/23

Saturday racing goes to Bendigo for All Star Mile day and there’s an awesome nine race card with a bunch of exciting sprints, a couple mid distance races and some staying races. Their is a total of 1.5 million dollars prize money available on the card and the card is highlighted by the APIAM ANIMAL HEALTH GOLD RUSH in race three over 1000m for a share of $250,000 and the BET365 GOLDEN MILE over 1600m.

BEST BET - #6 - Croatian Belle
Croatian Belle can fire first up for Brett Hayes. The stable is absolutely flying on their juvenile runners and she won her two first career outings. Both of which were on the rough Valley track and then they threw her into the Magic Million in Gold Coast where they were just a bit too sharp for her when she finished down the track behind Skirt the Law. She’s been wound up nicely with two sharp Jump Outs and is ready to win now.

THE DANGER - #7 - Picky
The Corstens have also been flying lately and their entrant into this race is Picky who I think off of a freshen is a great shot to go over in this sprint. her last effort was in the Blue Diamond when she picked up from right at the back of the field to fly down the track, finishing just behind the fit/in form Little Brose. She jumped out very nicely recently at Flemington and I love her stride, she’s a powerful mare who will be fighting in the finish.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Magic Madonna (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I think that getting out to the 1000m is great for Magic Madonna who was far from disgraced at Sandown over this distance. She got well back in the run there and was knocked around a bunch before getting clear air in the last 200m and absolutely powering home to come second to the very impressive American Zombie. She should improve a lot off that and the extra 100m suits her style.

BEST BET - #7 - Sing For Peace (NEXT BEST) 
Sing for Peace is a four year old racing for Patrick Payne and she is very lightly raced but is definitely going in the right direction. Last time out he scored impressively over the 2000m at Pakenham, improving throughout the run in the race and then drawing away from them to win convincingly. He is a proven winner over this trip before and I think natural improvement should carry him in good stead for this.

THE DANGER - #4 - Caboche
Caboche is a horse I have lots of time for. The Chriss Waller trained mare comes back to Victoria for racing and can improve big time here after racing at the 1900m at Rosehill and never really being a threat. However he did finish that race off very nicely behind Almania and clocked some good late splits. If you hone in on his 2400m and onwards form it reads very very well for this. Top threat.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Mimi’s Award
Mimi’s Award is a horse I followed last prep and she is very honest. She’s coming into this at what should be peak fitness now fourth up and has been primed for a race like this. She recently ran the 2100m at Stony Creek where she sat on the pace and had something to give when asked for effort but just couldn’t get one over behind Flambeur. Lafferty gets the booking which gives a nice claim and she rides her well and I think she can be in the finish at big odds.

BEST BET - #5 - Munhamek (BEST BET) 
I love Munhamek and have been on him a bunch in what seems like a never ending prep for him but honestly he seems to just keep improving. He was costly last start in The Mugatoo just over two weeks ago when he smashed them to the line to win comfortably. He gets the ground to suit and because of the rise in grade he stays well down in the weights and gets the map to suit. Best bet here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Just Folk
Just Folk is racing at his home track tomorrow and the ground is perfect for what he likes. He’sn going to be as honest as they come after resuming at Flemington just under a month ago in the Shaftesbury Avenue when he was very good fresh. He was flying there and was a threat but the ground was better suited to some others and he landed up finishing just behind Scallopini, not being beaten far away. Natural improvement and the form from that should carry him in good stead for this.

VALUE BET - #10 - Another One 
All you can do is win and that is what Another One has done in her past two at Wagga over the mile before taking a three month break from the races and coming back to the races at Canberra and scoring in fine fashion over the 1400m on similar ground to what we get tomorrow. The times were outstanding there and she has to be respected here with the added 200m and added fitness. She can run a cracker race and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her come out on top again. Super progressive horse.
