Saturday Racing Tips - Caulfield Racecourse 19/08/23

Racing down in. Victoria is absolutely firing this Saturday with a big support card for the huge racing at Caulfield with ten  races set for being contested in mixed grades with up to BM90 races being contested on the day with just under $800k prize money spread across the card and I think there are some astutely placed runners for the top Victorian stables who are in for big preps with Spring racing on the horizon and I am keen to get stuck into things so follow me below for a solid card of Caulfield racing!

BEST BET - #6–Beour Boy
Currently in some insane form, placing in it’s last 6 races, it is familiar with this track and loves the distance. After coming 2nd in the last 3 races, there’s no doubt this horse will be in it until the very end. You should expect to see this horse settle early, and come flying near the end. I’d say this is the toughest horse in the race.

THE DANGER - #2–Starlight Scope
Starlight Scope has won 2 of its last 3 races, one of which was at this distance. Last time racing at this track it didn’t go too well, although it started rough and just didn’t get any better. I don’t see that happening again and the odds for this horse seems to good to pass up. Don’t be surprised if this horse is leading, let’s hope it doesn’t fall off if that’s the case.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Anahita (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Once again we are following on with form here. Anahita has won 2 of its last 3 races, and 3 of its last 5. Although this horse mainly gets it done at Sandown, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be in contention today. If it gets a good position early, it should at least come top 3. The odds I’d say are way overs for the chance it has. Keep a big eye out for this one, my favourite roughie of the day.

BEST BET - #4–Waverider Buoy (BEST BET) 
Interesting horse this one, it’s used to riding at Rosehill in NSW recently, although comes down to Caulfield for this one. It’s in some find form coming top 2 in the last 4 races and winning one of them. It just hasn’t been able to finish the job recently. We should see this horse settle towards the middle of the field, and I am hoping it has an open lane coming down the turn where we should see it shine. Keep an eye out for this horse.

THE DANGER - #1–Bound For Home
Hasn’t been in the greatest form the past few races, although this horse loves Caulfield, even winning it’s last race here at the exact same distance. It’s hard to look over this horse and although I don’t think it wins. I really wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this horse fly home late. Don’t expect much.

VALUE BET  - #13 –Yellow Sam
Has won its last three races by a convincing margin, although it is coming up a grade so not too sure how it will compete. Purely a form pick and if it stays racing like it has been it definitely has a shout. I think it should be around 7 odds but the 9 we are getting seems to be clear value.

BEST BET - #7–Detonator Jack (NEXT BEST) 
Has proven time and time again it’s ready to compete and finish strong. In tough field this race but that hasn’t stopped Detonator Jack before. This distance is a bit of a weird one for it, having only raced 200-600m more recently. This could be an issue but I do think it will adjust and go well. It loves the dry and this race other than the distance looks perfect for it. Let’s hope it can adjust and go well.

THE DANGER - #6–Savannah Cloud
I can’t see this horse not at least placing at the very least. It’s loved this track in the past but hasn’t raced here since it’s last spell. As it returns to Caulfield, I see a strong leading position for most of the day, and I hope that it bursts down through the stretch. It’s last three races it has come 2nd, 3rd and 4th. With the three before Savannah Cloud won three in a row! It is in some good form and I’m hoping it keeps it up.

VALUE BET - #9–Boogie Dancer
Hasn’t gone too well last few races but has shown its potential recently. The 23 odds we are seeing is simply way overs, and I believe it should be around 18 at the max. This one is purely a value play, and I’m hoping that with a track it is familiar with it should shine back to its old form.
