Saturday Racing Tips- Caulfield Racecourse 24/06/23

Racing comes back to Caulfield Racecourse for what feels like a long time away from the track and I am very excited to be back to see some of the most progressive Victorian horses stepping up from races that you would have seen tips on our site for during the midweeks as well as resuming top horses. There are nine high level races on the card, most of them over sprint to 1600m distance and to be contested for upwards of $100k. I think we will see some very competitive races and there are a few particular spots I am keen on so follow me below as I outline my best bets of the day!

Caulfield R1 - The McCafe Hcp (1000m)

Selections:
#10 - Outback Miss (BEST BET) - $2.80
#3 - Amigo - $3.40
#6 - Spring Eagle - $18.00
#5 - Regal Zeus - $34.00

BEST BET - #10 - Outback Miss - (BEST BET)
I am pretty keen on Outback Miss who I have been with in just her one career start for the Price / Kent stable and if the track doesn’t dry out too much, which i don’t see happening by the first of the day if at all then she’s going to look a lot shorter than her price. She raced at Bendigo on debut over the 1000m when really looking like a good swimmer on a bog track there as she let down well to score quite softly. There’s good form around her from that and she should beat these.

THE DANGER - #3 - Amigo

Amigo has had just the one career start for the Moody stable and has had no public trials since but you would have to think he’s going to return to racing in a big way here for a flying stable and with only the one run to go by, it was full of merit. The run came back in February in the Group Three Blue Diamond Prelude at Sandown when making great ground from out wide on a tough run to finish just behind the placegetters. Likely runs very well here.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Spring Eagle
Spring Eagle clocked some very good splits on debut for Grant Bedggood at Sale about a month ago now at the midweeks where he let them go forward and Mertens asked for him to start winding up near the turn where he came from far back to smash them inside the last bit of the straight. Likely spots them a bit of a start again here and gets an honest contest but can remain undefeated here.

Caulfield R5 - Lamaro's Hotel Hcp (1400m)

Selections:
#6 - Another Ponzi (NEXT BEST) - $7.00
#8 - Hazel Baby - $4.20
#9 - Magnaspin - $12.00
#12 - Shakattak - $9.00

BEST BET - #6 - Another Ponzi - (NEXT BEST)
I am pretty Keen on Another Ponzi for the Jolly stable in what looks one of the better contests of the day here. He’s had three runs back from a spell this time in, the first two of which were dominant accounts at Balaklava over the 1200m/1300m and then raced at Morphettville Parks where he sat on the speed and had a good kick in the straight but was claimed late by a smart type. Not sure if 1400m will hurt his chances a bit but he’s likely to be a long way in front of them and might be too hard to run down.

THE DANGER - #8 - Hazel Baby
Hazel Baby is a strong type for Maher and Eustace who gets in with no weight on her back at all at just 52kg with the claim from Heffel and should run very well here. She’s only been unplaced in one of her six career starts to date and shed the maiden tag two back at Geelong in a very much improved effort and she just seems to keep having more upside, running better in a strong 78 at Sandown Hillside last time out where she just missed after jumping awkwardly and would have won with a more economical run. I think she will look the winner a long way here.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Magnaspin
I had Magnaspin in my blackbook after his resuming run at Flemington over this distance in a strong contest where he found the line very well from five or six deep and far out wide in a very bold effort, clocking some good splits in the process. He’s a second up winner and strikes a similar contest here, perhaps even a bit thinner.

Caulfield R7 - Michael Walker Farewell (Bm84) (1100m)

Selections:
#5 - Invincible Caviar - $6.00
#6 - Senegalia - $6.00
#8 - Viviane (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $9.50
#14 - Niccolite - $7.00

BEST BET - #5 - Invincible Caviar

I think that this is quite an open race and that by this point in the day with how wet I have been told the track is that we are going to need some noted wet trackers. However in the case of the potential future Moody star Invincible Caviar the potential upside and progression of this horse is just too high to ignore. He had a very ordinary return a few weeks back at Sandown but he was never expected to go well there and now comes into this with a bit of fitness and the ball rolling. I think she is going to run well.

THE DANGER - #6 - Senegalia
If Senegalia holds form she is going to be strong here with another smartly placed race by the Maher and Eustace stable which sees her run with just 54kg on her back with the claim from Pinn. He rode her a couple weeks ago when racing in a strong BM70 at Flemington where she smartly weaved through runners to finish on top in the last 50m of an open race for a strong win. Again, if she has petrol left in the tank she will be competitive here.

VALUE BET - #8 - Viviane (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Viviane is certainly going well enough to take this out for Mick Ellerton. She’s had three runs back from a spell and looks to have really clicked up in her last one at Sandown a couple weeks ago where she crossed early from a midfield barrier to set fourth on the fence behind the speed, took the lead inside the 200m and never stopped fighting to win well. She’s taking on some stronger horses now but will look the winner at least some of the wya.

Jockey Of The Day – Brenton Avdulla

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Saturday at Caulfield.

R2 - #2 - Cylinder - $3.80
R5 - #12 - Kokoro - $7.00
R6 - #6 - Roots - $7.50
R8 - #5 - Zou Tiger  - $9.50
R9 - #3 - Welwal - $13.00

Multi Tips For Caulfield

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in.

Best Promotions for Caulfield Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
