Saturday Racing Tips - Cranbourne Racecourse 25/11/23

Saturday nights under the lights at Cranbourne continue for another week of exciting racing, there’s ten races on the card, with the Ladbrokes Cranbourne Cup being the feature of the day in race 9 at the course, a 1600m race for a share of half a million dollars prize money. I think it will be a competitive card and as such I have picked out my best betting spots, follow me below as I outline them for Cranbourne Racing’s Saturday night card.

BEST BET - #2 - Wiggum
Wiggum has hardly put a foot wrong in his short career and after clicking up nicely to win last start he rates very highly here. He last raced on Flemington Cup Day where he stepped out over the 1000m and came from the tail of the field to smash them and clock some of the better late splits of the meeting. If he can bridge the gap to 1200m now he rates very highly here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Brave Mead
Obvious danger in Brave Mead who has been running very well this campaign. He last stepped out a week back in the Blue Sapphire where he sat outside the speed trying to lead throughout the run but just couldn’t get there off the tough run when Run Harry Run swamped them near the line. He comes back to 1200m from 1400m there which is a bit of a query but he’s the class of the fieldk here

VALUE BET  - #3 - Jewel Bay (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Jewel Bay won over this track and trip two back and he is a strong horse who deserves a look here. He came back 200m in trip on Cup Day at Flemington where they did things too hot for him and he just couldn’t get there when finishing down the track behind Wiggum. I think back out to 1200m is good and he’s hard fit, can win again.

BEST BET - #4 - Kazou (BEST BET)
Kazou has to be winning this and I think at around odds on right now you can justify putting money on him. She resumed at Randwick a few weeks back when looking like she had thrown the race herself with her racing manners but she just kept finding the line when asked to knuckle down and won there, beating Commemorative. If she gets a soft lead she will be too far in front of them to be run down here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Frumos
Frumos is a horse I can’t keep giving chances forever but at her best she really is something. She last raced at Randwick over the 1500m when finding the line well from very deep in the field but did take a bit too long to wind up there. I think well back in depth now as well as back a couple 100 metres in the run are both positives but needs to lift here.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Proscenium Arch
Proscenium Arch has always been an interesting runner for the Busuttin / Young stable that has promised a lot and to be fair has delivered at times. She resumes in this race after having not been seen since the QLD Oaks when finishing down the track to Amokura. Her Jumpouts have been very solid for the return and she’s trained here, looks good to go first up.

BEST BET - #10 - Euphoric (NEXT BEST) 
Everything about this set up for Euphoric just points towards Greg Eurell taking this race out again and the way the horse is going he can’t be treated lightly here. He returned to racing in a big way with a win on Cup Day at Geelong and then just narrowly ran second the next time he stepped out in the Country Final on oaks Day. I am tempted to say this is the weakest race he’s contested in some time and he’s hard fit now and flying. Stable rarely gets these wrong as well.

THE DANGER - #9 - Foxy Cleopatra 
Hard to knock Foxy Cleopatra, I am only really siding with Euphoric as the two’s odds are so similar it seems like it wouldn’t be smart to do otherwise but this Busuttin/Young trained horse resumed on Cup day over the 1400m where she ran second to Skew Wiff but the way in which she finished off the race there was ever so impressive and that form reads as the A1 here after what Skew Wiff did last weekend. Locally trained, very dangerous.

VALUE BET - #3 - Here To Shock 
Here To Shock comes out of some big races and he should run well here. He bombed out in The Toorak before last racing at Flemington three weeks back where he sustained a solid tempo from near the front to finish fifth in a bunched finish where a sharp horse won. He now goes back out to 1600m but has the runs aboard and as long as he has been placed here with some intent I think he goes well.

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside.
