Doomben R1 - Brc Membership On Sale Now Hcp (1350m)

Selections:
#2 - Power Of The Brave (NEXT BEST)  - $3.70
#1 - Transatlantic - $2.10
#6 - Showdra - $6.00
#7 - Jack's Boom - $7.00

BEST BET - #2 - Power Of The Brave (NEXT BEST)
I could live to regret this but I am keen to take on Tony Gollan in the opener and be with the mighty Kris Lees Andrew Mallyon combination with Power Of the Brave who has had just the debut run so far but what a debut it was. He raced at Newcastle a few weeks ago on debut when letting them get in front but not for long before letting down to clear them out, run a great time in the process and record the best splits of the day when winning over the 1150m. He goes out 200m in distance now, should find plenty more to offer second up and can stay unbeaten here.

THE DANGER - #1 - Transatlantic
Dangerous is a good way to describe the Tony Gollan trained Transatlantic who hasn’t put a foot wrong in two career starts at this track and is obviously trained here. He debuted over the 1200m when running on very well out wide from far back in the field before coming out to this distance where he sat right on the speed and still had enough to fend them off late. I like him ridden with a bit more of a sit to conserve for that big finish but is dynamic and should be hard fit here. Tough to beat.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Showdra
Showdra is coming off a debut win for Lee Freedman and I can’t knock the horse at all. The debut came at the Sunshine Coast mid last month over the 1400m where he set last on the rail and raced a bit greenly but was improving throughout the run before being held up around the 200m mark. He got clear air shortly after and once he did he found plenty to charged ahead late and win there. He maps for a much more economical run here, natural improvement second up suggests he will look even better and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins.

Doomben R5 - Sky Racing Hcp (1350m)

Selections:
#3 - Pocket Full (BEST BET) - $2.50
#1 - Sailor’s Secret - $3.10
#9 - Porky - $12.00
#2 - Count Da Beans - $4.40

BEST BET - #3 - Pocket Full (BEST BET)
Pocket Full looks set to make it three in a row for the Kendrick stable and finds another winnable race. He resumed off of a twenty one week spell at the Sunshine Coast two back over the 1000m where he got the run of the race and won when tiring late in the piece before coming to this track last time out and showing big improvements with fitness to lead and easily win over the 1200m here with what looks like lots more to offer. Comes into this third up now, with more upside out to a very suitable distance and Orman retains the ride. Can’t see this going badly.

THE DANGER - #1 - Sailor’s Secret
I do quite like the look of the Kelly Schweida trained Sailor’s Secret who raced three weeks ago at Ipswich where he sat just off a genuine tempo before being asked for the effort by Benny Thompson where he motored away from the field for a soft win. He raced a very meritful second here just before then at this track/trip where he was just edged out late after giving a sight. Hard fit, back to this track and trip now and should only run well.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Porky
Porky is resuming here for Tony Gollan and has to be respected being locally trained. He hasn’t raced since the end of February at Eagle Farm where he was at the end of his prep and looked like he was out of petrol when finishing down the track. If they’re throwing him straight in the deep end into a 1350m it’s not without reason when it comes to this table at this track and he’s had no public trials to lead him into this so clearly they know something they don’t need the world knowing. Watch carefully for him tomorrow.

Doomben R8 - Mekkafest 19 August (Bm90) (1600m)

Selections:
#5 - Mississippi Prince - $3.00
#8 - Seleque (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $9.00
#9 - Wairere Falls - $19.00
#2 - Linthorpe Lad- $7.50

BEST BET - #5 - Mississippi Prince
Not sure if there’s any value picking Mississippi Prince in what is quite an open BM90 but she really should be hard to beat here for the Gray stable. She resumed back in April and was having quite a successful prep and then was thrown into The Star two back when she really should have been given a break from racing and it told when finishing down the track. She was subsequently given a break which she relished when returning to racing last time out at Ipswich in a strong BM78 where she crossed, led and won easily over the 1666m. That run should hold her in good stead for this assignment, she gets in at just 54.5kg after the claim from Graham, draws a much better gate here and I think she will be tough to beat from out front.

THE DANGER - #8 - Seleque (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Chris Waller wins races like these and I think that Seleque is a prime candidate that fits the bill. She’s very god at this track with a win and a half length beaten placing in three runs here and most recently she ran over the mile at Eagle Farm five weeks ago where she did plenty wrong and couldn’t really get into the race. I think we can forgive her for a bad day and that is likely why we see the price we do. Her form otherwise up north is very good and with the lead in trial she should be right for this.

VALUE BET - #9 - Wairere Falls
We have backed Wairere Falls as an outside chance recently when he raced in a solid BM90 at the beginning of last month over the 1810m at Eagle Farm where he trucked along before shifting out to start a run in the straight but then seemingly folding. He has been given a little break for this and goes very well with fresh legs, if he can be dragged into the race from the speed out front then I think he will be doing good work late and can fill a trifecta spot, he just isn’t really a horse that likes to win.

Best Promotions for Doomben Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
