Doomben R3 - The Star (Bm80) (1350m)

Selections:
#2 - Meritable (NEXT BEST) - $3.70
#17 - Argyle Pink - $5.00
#7 - Ocean Treaty - $15.00
#18e - The Drover - $9.00

BEST BET - #2 - Meritable (NEXT BEST)
Meritable should have lengths on these if he is ready to fire on resmuption. He’s having his first start at the races for Annabel Neasham after switching camps last year. He hasn’t been seen at the races since the Fred Best where he was far down the track behind Vilana. His most recent trial was very good, maps well and with Jmac on and 1350m fresh they should run a cracker.

THE DANGER - #17 - Argyle Pink
I’m a big fan of the Tony Gollan trained Argyle Pink who has clocked in two placings and a win in her last three runs. Last time out she tried hard early to lead and gave a great kick at the end but just started the run too early and faded into third behind Tilianam. Don’t think this race is as hard as that and she will have every chance again to go one better this time.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Ocean Treaty
Ocean Treaty is another who is resuming in this race. It looks like she is being worked towards the mile for the O’Dea/Hoystead stable after having been given a break since early February when racing over the mile and being too strong for them, scoring impressively and fending off some very in form horses. She will probably settle back in the field but if she doesn’t find herself too far back in the run she can take this out.

Doomben R5 - Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m)

Selections:
#10 - Appin Girl - $3.40
#8 - Ducasse - $5.50
#2 - Sovereign Fund - $6.00
#9 - Armed Forces (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $11.00

BEST BET - #10 - Appin Girl
Appin Girl definitely is a deserving favourite here and out to 1200m should be fine. She checked off the Stakes win a fortnight ago in the Dalrello at Eagle Farm and she put them away awesomely there, drawing clear of the field in the last 150m and motoring home. I think 1200m will be suited based on the way she has been powering to the line late and is hard fit now. I am very keen on her prospects.

THE DANGER - #8 - Ducasse
Ducasse has had just the one start for Mick Freedman but looks to be a big improver off the back of what was already a very good debut at Rosehill. She set near last from the wide gate there but just kept improving along the run and did more than enough on debut on the muddy track. I think she will be fitter and sharper off that, stable is flying and she looks well placed here.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Armed Forces (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Armed Forces looks like a progressive Colt for Chris Waller who debuted two weeks back at Rosehill in the mud on the same day as Ducasse and just didn’t fully handle the going there when finishing down the track. He gets onto firmer ground now, Jmac jumps on for the ride and they map well. The tick over trial was very good as well and I think he is over the odds.

Doomben R8 - Ladbrokes Doomben 10,000 (1200m)

Selections:
#8 - Giga Kick (BEST BET) - $1.70
#9 - Aft Cabin  - $5.00
#2 - Mazu  - $9.00
#4 - Overpass  - $13.00

BEST BET - #8 - Giga Kick (BEST BET)
You’d have to think that Giga Kick handles the tight track and can make this look easy as one of, if not the best, sprinting horses in the country. He recorded his first Group 1 win last start, bolting through the line in the All Aged stakes. The form has since been franked and the only thing that could cause any query is him having his first run at Doomben. He looks a moral on paper.

THE DANGER - #9 - Aft Cabin
I have a lot of time for Aft Cabin and if he wins this it’s pretty much a guarantee he will be going onto The Everest. Cummings pushed him out to the Mile in the Guineass but he didn’t appreciate it and has since been sent back to the stable, had a freshen up and if he runs anything like he did in the Arrowfield Sprint he can go one better than Giga Kick.

VALUE BET - #2 - Mazu
Mazu is an ultra-competitive horse for the Snowdens that disappointed over the 1400m in the All Aged Stakes last start after placing in the TJ Smith this distance, has been freshened up since then with some lovely Jumpout work. He’s just over a month between runs and back to 1200m looks ideal. Tim Clark takes the mount and he will be competitive in this field.

Best Promotions for Doomben Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
