BEST BET - #4 - The Big Goodbye (NEXT BEST)
I like the look of The Big Goodbye for this race. The Rob Heathcote trained five year old has scored in two and placed in one in her last four, defeating some pretty serious horses in the process such a Hilal when racing two back at Eagle Farm over the 1200m. Last time out she crossed from the widest gate in the ATC Cup at Sunshine Coast and tried hard all run in a brave effort from a tough run to end up just behind the placings. Proves that she is still fit and has a lot of class, Collet is on and they draw well, keen on her prospects.
THE DANGER - #11 - King Kapa
King Kapa last ran at Eagle farm when resuming from a twelve week spell and ran a shocker when finishing last in the field after being backed as if he were a moral you would think the Vet would have found issues but didn’t find any… Scored in four consecutive races before then, has a good second up record, moved along very nicely to win a trial and you’d just have to assume last run was an anomaly and back him with some confidence again.
VALUE BET - #6 - Zethus
I think Zethus is going to have a good campaign this time in for Cummings. He’s a well bred horse who resumed in the Gold Rush at Hawkesbury behind Malkovich which ties into a few others here and whilst Malkovich gave nothing else a chance to get into the race there, I thought that Zethus closed off to finish one of the best in the field there. Historically has made big improvements second up and he generally goes better with a bit of pace on, which looks like he will get in this. Watch what the market does.
