Saturday Racing Tips - Doomben Racecourse 25/11/23

Racing comes back to Doomben for what has shaped up to be a great ten race card that features some of the more prominent Queensland and NSW stables’ runners, with two listed races on the card there does look to be some very nice betting spots on the card. I am keen to get straight into things and have outlined my best betting spots on the card below.

BEST BET - #3 - Flying Joy (NEXT BEST)
Flying Joy can win again here and I am keen to be in her corner in the opener. She got the perfect ride by Du Plessis at this track two weeks back when flying home from off the speed at the right time and now steps out an extra 200m in trip. Looks like an awesome stayer who will handle it without too much trouble and I am keen to see how she goes again. Nice price as well.

THE DANGER - #5 - Kureder
Jimmy Orman in the opener is a classic in Queensland and he gets the ride on Waller’s Kureder who steps up to this grade but does deserve a crack at them based on the way he’s been racing. He came off a three week break last time out at Eagle Farm over the 2400m where he was easily the best stayer in the race and came off heels at the 300m to power away from them. No issue coming back in trip and Orman will give him every chance.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Ostermeier
Ostermeier, I think, Is being somewhat overlooked by the market here and comes out of the same race that Flying Joy won a fortnight ago. She didn’t get any luck there when being posted last in a lot of the run but did come on nicely and I like the way he was strong through the line. Out in trip looks suitable now and there will be more speed up front which should give him a chance here.

BEST BET - #1 - Comrade Rosa (BEST BET)
It’s so hard to get away from a Tony Gollan trainer runner in a race like this and whilst I gave chances to the other runners I have outlined here I think that I will be kicking myself if Comrade Rosa wins and I neglected her. She resumed two weeks back in the Keith Noud where she really should have won when back last and then being held up when absolutely bolting to the line to finish close to Extremist. She’s a second up winner and can towel these off the back of last start.

THE DANGER - #2 - Extremist
Extremist is the one I am most interested in outside of the favourite. She has an unbelievably sharp racing style and whilst she did get the dream run in the Keith Noud to win well two weeks back I think that she still has enough upside / class to carry her well into this. Dolan retains the ride and if she sees out the trip she will be hard to beat.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Deep Rouge
Deep Rouge is a horse I had as one of my follows when she resumed at Eagle Farm on Cup Day and whilst she is being thrown somewhat into the deep end here, Lockwood knows what he’s doing and wouldn’t place her without some consideration here. She won very well when resuming, coming from deep in the field to win very well, draws poorly here but she likes to get back anyway and is over the odds for me.

BEST BET - #1 - Scallopini 
How can you ignore Scallopini here. Yes, he is first up and hasn;t raced since doing nothing in the Stradbroke but you can assume the O’dea / Hoystead camp would not be placing him in this first up without some intent. His best sees him towel these and with Thornton on he will be able to roll forward, be near the front and the way his recent trial looked I think he’s coming into this ready to win.

THE DANGER - #13 - Zarastro 
Another Gollan trained favourite and I understand it given he meets Scallopini a whopping 8kgs better at the weights and gets Ang Jones on. He put together three sharp wins at Eagle Farm before last stepping out here in the Kieth Noud and running very honestly to finish runner up to Extremist there in a bold effort. If there’s petrol in the tank, which there should be, he will be bolting home again, I just can’t have him at the quote.

VALUE BET - #4 - Irish Songs (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I love this horse for the White stable and I am keen to not overlook him at the quote of around $14.00. He comes out of the Keith Noud that Zarastro ran runner up in where he was pretty much last in the run but was flying home when he finally got clear air in a solid effort behind Extremist. He’s been set up a lot better for this assignment and placed here with more intent. His best is definitely good enough to take this out and he’s one who I just have so much time for.
