Saturday Racing Tips - Doomben Racecourse 28/10/23

Racing comes back to Doomben for what has shaped up to be a sick little nine race card that features some of the more prominent Queensland and NSW stables’ runners who look to be on their ways towards nice preps during the Spring and whilst there is no listed racing to be run at the course this Saturday there does look to be some very nice betting spots on the card. I am keen to get straight into things and have outlined my best betting spots on the card below.

BEST BET - #5 - Argyle Pink  (NEXT BEST) 
I have backed Argyle Pink a couple times in these opener Doomben races and we’ve had success before but I do think that she is an honest chance her after the way she stepped out at Eagle Farm two weeks back where she had a tough run outside the leader and still gave a kick in the straight before just going down late to her stablemate there. Back to Doomben, should find the front easy enough and be hard to hold out from there.

THE DANGER - #1 - Bitcoin Baby
Bitcoin Baby should go well out to this trip and coming up from Sydney rarely reads poorly which she has largely proven in her two starts for Chris Munce up north. Her last run came a few weeks back at Eagle Farm where she did well when not a winning chance based on her run to lose by a few lengths to horses much deeper into their prep. She should be approaching her peak now third up and getting out to the 1350m looks very positive.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Tyresa
Tyresa resumes in this race but has the class to make an impact here. She hasn’t raced since the Queensland Oaks at the beginning of June where she ran pretty poorly behind Amokura but was at the end of the prep then and does go better with fresh legs. The fact she’s coming back to racing at this trip shows the stable probably has placed her with a fair bit of intent and whilst she will be deep in the run i think she will be flying late.

BEST BET - #1 - Mishani Rock (BEST BET) 
Mishani Rock has only had the two starts to kick off his career for Les Ross but has looked very strong in each of them. He won dominantly in the Pat O’Shea at Toowoomba before taking a break from racing for about a month and then coming back at Eagle Farm where he just missed to stablemate. He does look to relish the extra bit of trip he gets now and I think he runs well here.

THE DANGER - #2 - Head Honcho
Head Honcho should be getting his race manners in line and also approaching his peak fitness third up now. He comes into this having been turned around quickly after stepping out at the Sunshine Coast last Sunday where he came on very strongly despite not being a winning threat. He just needs to settle a bit closer here to be a winning chance.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Unega Wahy'a
I don’t think that Unega Wahy’a will be a winning threat exactly in this race but I do think he can improve into this and be one for your exotics. He’s had two runs to kick the career off and both have been pretty solid when placing fourth in both the runs at Eagle Farm behind smart horses in Mishani Lily on debut and then Mishani Suspect, not beaten far away in either. Third up, approaching his peak and at a huge price, he’s one to follow.

BEST BET - #3 - Abounding
Abounding is a very smart horse for Rob Heathcoate that hasn’t raced since putting in a strong effort at Eagle Farm in the Oxlade where she placed third to Namesake in an extremely tight finish but I think she will come back strongly here. She won a trial very well at Eagle Farm on Tuesday and has clearly been placed here with a bit of intent. I think she will go well first up here.

THE DANGER - #8 - Cryptoshare 
Munce’s Cryptoshare is getting heavy respect here from the market and as such I also am giving him a bit of respect here. He trialled nicely before debuting at the Sunshine Coast in the midweeks where I am not sure he beat much but the time was very good and the way in which he looked throughout the run leading before powering home was honestly outstanding where he bolted in and looked to have plenty more to offer. I imagine he will pose some level of danger here.

VALUE BET - #1 - Trifling (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Trifling resumes for Helen page having not raced since the JJ Atkins where she finished down the track in an end of prep effort behind King Colorado. She does very good work generally with fresh legs however and whilst she does come into this lugging the big weight here the way tat she won a trial at the Gold Coast last Monday was too impressive to ignore. Could surprise these but wouldn’t surprise me.
