Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 03/02/24

Racing returns to Eagle Farm with ten races to be run and won at the course and we are looking to kick the year off in style as I have run through the seven race card and picked out my best betting spots. There are some high level contests on the card with the XXXX Hcp being the feature of the day, an open 1600m race.

BEST BET - #3 - Whiskey
Smart horse in Whiskey for the Snowden’s who I think is a good bet in the opener. He’s had two trials to get ready for start one and in both he has looked sharp when being ridden hard and responding well to the vigour both times. That is very good signs to see from a juvenile and I think he should have something on this field.

THE DANGER - #2 - Enterprise Defence
Enterprise Defence should be improving quite sharply off the back of his debut where he stepped out at this track and trip a fortnight ago and despite drawing a terrible gate he found the line quite well in defeat when managing to hold third place behind Commanding Artist. He finds a softer race now and draws a much better gate, should feature here.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Mishani Crown (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Gotta respect any runners Les Ross sends forth at these Queensland meetings and Mishani Crown looks to have a bit of talent based on her short five run career so far. She won the true sprint at Ipswich a couple runs back in fine fashion before powering home at the Gold Coast at the beginning of the year to finish runner up and I think hard fit and out to this trip now she can run well at odds.

BEST BET - #6 - Surreal Ascot (NEXT BEST)
Surreal Ascot is a Sweeney camp representative that hasn’t been seen at the races since the beginning of September where she raced at Doomben over the 1350m behind Deep Respect in a very strong race that saw her finish just behind the winners. She has trialled super for her return and whilst 1000m is on the short side for her I think she’s just better than these.

THE DANGER - #5 - She’s A Rogue
She’s A Rogue has to rate as the main danger here for Chris Munce. She last stepped out at Ipswich a few weeks ago where she sat outside the leader and despite the tough run still gave a very strong kick but was just run down by a smart one late in the piece. I think back to 1000m i think is positive and she’s proven over this track and distance combination. 

VALUE BET  - #1 - Luvarchie
Luvarchie has hit a bit of a purple patch and I think can go on with it here. He was four weeks between runs when last stepping out for start number five where he found the lead in the Heavy at the Sunshine Coast and held on well to the line to win nicely there and break maiden. He gets the booking of Orman now and gets back on top of the ground which I think will only see him run better here.

BEST BET - #2 - Capital Fenkel (BEST BET) 
Capital Fenkel looks like one of the more well placed favourites of the day for Marcus Wilson who did heaps of work to show talent on debut over the 1200m at Ipswich before stepping out to 1350m at Doomben where he came to the forefront in the straight where he powered away from them to win well there. I think coming to Eagle Farm and out to 1400m will be positive for him.

THE DANGER - #6 - Jealous
Jealous looks like a smart horse for Rob Heathcoat who did plenty of early work at the Sunshine Coast on debut before going out to the 1200m at the Sunshine Coast where she finished off the race very very well to win with what looked like more in hand. I think back on top of the ground and out to 1400m now she only runs well here.

VALUE BET - #3 - Capital Cee
Capital Cee I think can hit back hard here after returning to racing over the Sunshine Coast 1000m when coming back for his first race in 16 weeks where he was too bad to be true and I think based on how he generally improves second up and also getting here at limit weight at just 54kg. I think he will improve sharply into this.
