Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 03/06/23

Queensland Oaks day has arrived and we have an ever exciting racecard on the horizon at Eagle Farm racecourse. There are seven group level races on the card, including two Group 1’s and the feature of the day is none other than the Channel 7 Queensland Oaks, a 2200m staying race run for a share of $750,000 prize money. The weather forecast looks good, the track is rated a good 4 and the rail is out +2m. Follow me below for as I outline my best betting spots on the card!

BEST BET - #4 - Influential (NEXT BEST) 
Great little opening Group three race we have here and I have landed on the Waller trained Influential who looks to be going onto the JJ Atkins next week and a win here is what he needs for that. He comes off the back of a run in the Ken Russell at Sunshine Coast and he was given no favours there, being crowded out from the jump so forgive and forget that. He was brilliant before then at Warwick Farm and looks to relish the extra few hundred meters he gets now. Jmac’s aboard, top chance.

THE DANGER - #9 - Azula
Azula should jump on the bunny and give a sight out front, I think he will look very good here and is the key to this being a competitive race. She debuted at Warwick Farm where he looked very good and was crowded on the turn, able to finish midfield. She then came to Randwick where she was ridden more forward and it paid off as she didn’t allow anything else to get into the race and won dominantly there. She has a good racing pattern and will give herself every chance from the front.

VALUE BET  - #x - Name6 - Zimo

Zimo is a very interesting runner off the back of his debut run at Warwick Farm at the 1100m when he landed up running into third. He then went out to the 1200m at Sunshine Coast where he got a mile back in the run but he picked up late in the run and hammered home well. I think now out to 1500m is ideal, he will be fitter third up and if he can be closer in the run he will be prominent late.

BEST BET - #2 - Foxy Frida (BEST BET)
Foxy Frida is absolutely going right now for Andrew Noblet. I think that the stable is very keen on her at the mile off the back of her last few runs as her last two runs have been at this distance. Two weeks ago she raced in the G3 R A Lee at Morphettville over the mile and smartly weaved her own passage to power away and win with something in hand. She comes back to mares grade now, it will be her third consecutive run at this distance and I see her being very hard to beat again, even odds are good enough for me.

THE DANGER - #5 - Frumos
Frumos comes into this third up and looking very dangerous off the back of two solid runs. The first of which was in the Heavy at 1300m and he set wide and deep there but improved all through the run in an honest effort that saw him end up just behind the placegetters. He made massive improvements at Doomben last time out over the mile where he bounced well, sat behind the leader and powered away to record his first black type win. He should make further improvements now third up and with Jmac on they should run a good race.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Princess Rhaenys
The Tony Gollan trained Princess Rhaenys is a horse I have plenty of time for and looks like she is ready to win now after a few great set up runs. She raced at this track/distance fresh and was very good there, weaving between runners to carve out a path for her to finish midfield from the back. She then raced in the Pam O’Niell two weeks back at Doomben and again came on strongly from the back of the field to end up second to the aforementioned Frumos. She should be able to settle closer in the run now that she’s hard fit and will be very good late.

BEST BET - #3 - Military Expert
Military Expert is another who looks extremely well suited in this field. The Neasham trained runner resumed at Randwick in the mud where he just didn’t handle the going before going off to The Coast at Gosford over the Mile where he made massive improvements, coming from deep in the run to finish third to the in form / progressive Palmetto. I think back on top of the ground with fitness third up and out to 1500m in a not overly deep race should see him be very very hard to beat here. 

THE DANGER - #10 - Brigantine 
Brigantine looks very good here for James Cummings off the back of the last start win at Doomben a fortnight ago. He had Jimmy Orman aboard who rode him with arrogance and fair enough, he saluted seemingly with ease there even if he didn’t necessarily beat off an awful lot. He ran prior to that in the ATC Trophy in what was a very brave effort and now goes out to 1500m hard fit, stable is flying and I think he is the top chance in this competitive field.

VALUE BET - #5 - Munhamek (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Munhamek has been kept on ice since running in the Golden Mile at Bendigo at the beginning of April where he was at the end of prep and didn’t look too sharp. He was going to run in the BRC a few weeks ago but was scratched there and has recorded some very good Jumpouts to lead him back into this. He goes well fresh and should be very competitive against these.
