Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 04/02/23

Racing at Eagle Farm returns for the first weekend of February and to close out what has been a super successful summer carnival in Queensland and there is an exciting nine race card with races ranging over sprint distance to the lone staying race at 2200m with some mid distance racing throughout. The rail is in true position and the course is expected to be a good 4.

BEST BET - #1 - Bedaub (NEXT BEST)
Bedaub goes on top here by a bit, she ran in the Gold Pearl fresh behind Mishani Royale and then went to Doomben two weeks ago, sitting back and giving a good sight late but was never a threat behind Party For Two. She is a true sprinter from what I gather and so the 1000m, a soft field and Ben Thompson on board are all positive.

NEXT BEST - #4 - O’Polly
O’Polly looks like the one they will have to catch. She trialled at Doomben over the 840m when leading throughout and really having a nice stride. Wendy peel sticks off that trial for start one and I think that she looks suited to rolling forward again, gets the gun run and could make a mess of these.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Mishani Ambitious 
The Ross stable commands respect as they are absolute flying at the moment and really know what they are doing with these two year olds. He came back from a short six week spell when resuming at Ipswich over the 800m and looking good there but was slowly away and a bit green, looks to have a big improvement here.

BEST BET - #2 - Buying Time (BEST BET)
I really do think that Buying time has something on these. The O’Dea/Hoysted gelding resumed three weeks ago at Doomben at the midweeks where he flatlined them as a short priced favourite. Loy didn’t even have to do much there and he looks to have something in hand, races best fresh and is a top chance to go over again.

THE DANGER - #12 - Inasec
Inasec is flying for Tony Gollan, who is having a fantastic start to the year in general. The market had her pretty correct last time out at Ipswich when an odds on favourite in the market, she blundered at the start there and it cost her, repercussively being held up at the turn before powering home in the last 150m to end up second in an overall tough run. She maps to sit back and with the bigger track should find room to storm over them late.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Streaka
Streaka is a short track specialist who ran over the 900m at Gold Coast three weeks ago when running hard from the outset and looked to run out of gas but still managed to muster up enough to motor home for second behind the smart Archer’s Paradox. He should improve into this third up and will be better for the runs on board, he’s a top chance to go over on Saturday.

BEST BET - #1 - Tsarina Sophia
Tsarina Sophia rates well in this field. She was a winner last time out at Doomben and was very impressive there, weaving between runners to emerge late and still looked to have a bit in the tank there with Orman impressively steering there. He retains the ride now and Tsarina Sophia should be at peak fitness fourth up, out to 1400m looks positive and I think she can make it three wins in four runs.

THE DANGER - #2 - Hang Five 
Hang Five has found form again after a little dip. He was pretty ordinary in the Winter before being sent back to the paddock for a long spell. He then resumed at Doomben a fortnight ago where he was against the shape of the race and still found the line well late to the in-form Busting. He’ll be better for the run now and fitter, natural improvement suggests out to 1400m is good and he will be the one they have to catch.

VALUE BET - #5 - Centre Bounce (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Centre Bounce ran third in the race that Tsarina Sophia won last time out at Doomben and ran well over the markets expectations of him there. He never really got clear running there but still easily scraped into third place. He looks to relish the bigger track and will have more time to get into a good spot over the 1400m, I think that he could prove too strong late and take this out.

The best Jockey in the north and one of the top Jockeys in the country now, Jimmy Orman gets a great stack of rides for Saturday and quite a lengthy booking as well. I think that he has quite a few top chances to go over. I have outlined his rides for the day at Eagle Farm below.

I think with a bigger track such as Eagle Farm there are better chances for horses with big engines to motor home late and also for those runners that are at or near the top to slip through on the rail and give them too much to catch. As such I have prioritised runners that fit this pattern out of my selections and combined them into a place multi.
