Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 15/07/23

Racing returns to Eagle Farm off the back of what has been some super exciting and high level meetings at the track and this weekend we see nine races contested here for a share of $85k in each race and most of the races will be over sprint distance which is always a bonus for me as I find them easier to tip and exciting to watch. There looks to be some good betting spots on the card as the top Queensland stables have put forward some nice looking runners and I have outlined all my bets below. Follow me as I outline the Eagle Farm race card for this Saturday!

BEST BET - #8 - Tango Fever (BEST BET) 
Tango fever can make it a winning first up run for the Heathcoate stable, who rarely place their resuming runners badly, especially in Saturday grade. She kicked off her career in Summer with two runs when placing second on debut at the Gold Coast before taking a big jump to Saturday Grade down the coast at Randwick when finding them just a bit sharp. She’s had a very nice tick over trial at Doomben and the 1200m first up signals intent. Keen to be in her corner.

THE DANGER - #7 - Five Star Vixen
Another dangerous resuming runner is Five Star Vixen for the Bellamy stable who has also had just the two career starts to date but has been around some very nice form lines. She debuted behind Party For Two, who we all know is a class animal, when looking strong from out wide motoring home before not firing second up and the stable sent her away after then. She hasn’t been seen at the trials since but the whispers say she is good to go and I think she will make it a close run race.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Spirit Of Brodie 
I can’t see the Kendrick trained Spirit Of Brodie running badly here. He’s third up now and should be looking to hit peak now after making the resumption run a winning one at the Sunshine Coast where he displayed an ever impressive running style / mannerisms and seems a very smart type. She was a bit plain last time out at the same course but is a work in progress and seems to improve sharply with each outing. Jimmy Orman back aboard now is a big plus, third up, only runs well surely.

BEST BET - #5 - Inuwashi
I talk about how much I like the sprints and now find myself tipping in the lone staying race of the day here but I do think there are a couple key chances and if any of them come through it will be a nice profit as they are at odds. I think the Sears trained Inuwashi has to be the leading contender here. He has put together two sharp wins in his last two, the first at the Doomben 2000m before racing at this track/trip where he just kept finding more under pressure to win. He has earnt his chance in this grade and looks a class animal.

THE DANGER - #3 - Readily Availabull 
I might be a bit bias here but I have so much time for Jack Bruce’s Readily Availabull who just continues to put it together and rarely runs a bad race. He won authoritatively two back over this trip at the Sunshine Coast in a BM75 when drifting wide on the turn from near the speed and starting a powerful run, never in doubt and winning nicely. He stepped up the 2500m last time out at Ipswich and whilst he wasn’t disgraced he couldn’t get there when giving them too much of a start and running home just behind the placegetters. I think he only runs well here back to this trip and with Harley retaining the ride.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Just A Jedi (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I am a big fan of this guy and have backed him a couple times but he just’t hasn’t been putting it all together, albeit in much tougher company most of the time. He ran two weeks ago at Rosehill where he sat just off the speed in a lovely spot and despite Fawkner Park being the clear class of the field I still didn’t think that Just A Jedi finished off that race badly at all. There’s clearly no Fawkner Park Calibre horse in this race and he’s hard fit. You would think if the win is going to happen this prep it comes here.

BEST BET - #1 - Manhood (NEXT BEST) 
It’s going to take a good thing to beat the Neasham trained Manhood who finally comes back to Brisbane after spending some time in NSW and I think he will relish coming back to his home track. He’s clocked two wins and a close placing in his three runs here and comes off the back of a run about 5 weeks ago when not firing at Randwick. He should find an easy spot on the speed from the draw with Thornton on and will be tough to run down from there.

THE DANGER - #2 - Kinloch
The Kris Lees trained Kinloch is an awesome horse who I was all over during his prep this time last year and seems to have come back in very good order after not doing too much in her preps for about a year. She resumed at this track three weeks ago where he set second last in the run and came on very strongly late to grab the minor placing and be beaten less than two lengths. She is a proven second up winner, goes out in distance now and gets Mallyon aboard, should only run well.

VALUE BET - #5 - Fastconi
I was a big fan of Fastconi during her time in NSW under Chris Waller and now he is underway in his first prep for Nat McCall up north where he seems to have returned in good stead. He made his stable debut a fortnight ago over the 1000m on his new home track of the Sunshine Coast where he wasn’t anle to be tested after being badly checked and held up in the run. He will be fitter off that, out to a distance where he is a four time winner and has 8 placings from 15 runs, is a second up winner and maps for a great run. Surely goes well here.

For my mulit of the day I have stuck with my top selections and combined them as I believe there are some stand out types in a bunch of these races. I have also put a fair bit of weight onto the jockeys that have been booked, those with experience at a tighter track like Eagle Farm and those that are already fit/in form.
