Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 20/04/24

Racing comes back to Eagle Farm this Saturday as a nice support card for the big listed racing in Sydney and Perth this weekend. We have two Stakes races on the card with the feature being the Ladbrokes Ascot Qlty and there are some very sharp looking Queenslanders stepping out. I have run through all of them below and picked out my best betting spots so follow me as I run through the card!

BEST BET - #2 - Hidden Wealth
Hidden Wealth is the one for me in the opener. He meets his opposition with the benefit of having the runs on board with the favourite and the horse behind him in the market both resuming. He last raced a fortnight ago at this track and trip when powering home in a flash effort to a smart one in Shalaa’s Moment. I think he goes on with it here and is crying out for a win.

THE DANGER - #10 - Barassi
Barassi is a smart horse that resumes for the Edmonds camp in this race. He comes back here for start number three after winning at the beginning of the year to break maiden during the Magic Millions at the Gold Coast and it was a blitzing win. An electric trial on the Gold Coast Poly will only carry him well for this additionally. He could be well above these but at the price I’m against him here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - The Fixer (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I have The Fixer in a very similar box as Barassi in that his ceiling is unknown and he has plenty of talent / form to measure up here but is also resuming. He’s had two runs to kick the career off, both at the Sunshine Coast and in both he has found the front and never let go of it from there. Didn’t show all that much in a recent trial but stable are known for trialling there runners quietly and being very good fresh. Watch closely.

BEST BET - #1 - Prince Of Boom (NEXT BEST)
Prince Of Boom has to be the one to beat in a race where Rob Heathcoate goes against about five Tony Gollan trained runners. Him and Zarastro are both full of speed and Prince Of Boom gets gate one, won this race last year before kicking off a great winter campaign and he’s trialled very nicely for the return. I’m keen on his prospects to take it out again.

THE DANGER - #2 - Zarastro
Zarastro is the main threat here for Tony Gollan and he’s an extremely progressive horse that is four from four at this course and resumes here off the back of an electric trial at Doomben a couple weeks ago. He’s putting together a handy record with five wins and two placings in eight starts, finishing off last campaign behind Semana in the Magic Millions Cup. He gets Orman on to offset drawing widest and will roll forward here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - All That Pizzazz
All That Pizzazz is another Tony Gollan trained sprinter that is high class and can resume with a bang here. He last stepped out at Toowoomba in the King Of The Mountain where he was near last in the run but made great headway behind Rothfire. He goes very well with fresh legs and maps to be right up there with Allen aboard.

BEST BET - #5 - Press Link (BEST BET)
Press Link looks one of the better bets on the program for Rob Heathcoate after racing here about three weeks ago over this trip where he let them get out in front before letting down in the straight and looking fantastic when beating them by some lengths. No idea what his ceiling is but I am happy to punt on it being something better than this.

THE DANGER - #17 - Exotique Miss
Exotique Miss has come back in outstanding order for Mick Nolan resuming in a big way here over the 1200m a fortnight ago where Robbie D had her in a great spot in the middle of the track before she let down and put a big gap on her competition. I think she is going to shape up brilliantly with natural improvement off of that run, she’ll be strong here undoubtedly.

VALUE BET - #4 - Transatlantic 
Transatlantic is putting together a handy record for Tony Gollan with two wins and three placings in six career starts and comes into this fourth up and hard fit. He won here over the 1500m two back before racing at Doomben in a very strong race two weeks ago where he just couldn’t go on with them late after doing plenty of early work. He shapes up very well off of those two efforts and won’t be far away here.
