Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 29/07/23

Racing kicks on this Saturday at Eagle Farm off the back an awesome card here two weeks ago that saw some of the top Queensland stables’ runners go over for big wins as well as a Chris Waller assault that saw some NSW horses for his stable go over in massive wins and we see some of the same faces as well as some new ones that look to be in for big Winter / Spring preps. I have found a few betting spots I am particularly keen on and have run through them in my tips below so follow me for an exciting card at Eagle Farm tomorrow!

BEST BET - #1 - Shamedy
Shamedy has been clocking the splits and running in a way that I think will hold him very well for this 1400m assignment. He’s trained up North here by Graeme Green and strikes the easiest 2YO Saturday contest that he will likely find. He comes into this off the back of a 1200m win at Rockhampton where he calmly let them get way in front, like he knew something, and then powerfully spanked them from the back to win impressively. He was a month between runs then, all signs pointing to this being his best distance range, more to offer and surely wins.

THE DANGER - #3 - Misty Legend
They’re gonna have to get past the Team Freedman trained Misty Legend who looks super progressive off the back of his two runs so far this campaign. He won first up at Newcastle over the 900m where he looked to just be going out to stretch his legs and just spanked them there before racing over the 1100m at Randwick just shy of a month ago where he got out of his ground and couldn’t finish the race off there. He does jump up sharply in trip now but has the class edge on these and I think that he will be sharper this time in.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Black Minto (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)  
Black Minto is a Kelly trained runner that has hit some serious form and looks well suited to the step up to Metro grade racing now. He last ran at Ipswich two weeks ago where we had him in our Wednesday tips as he took control of that 1350m race and was never in doubt from there. The run prior was at Doomben where he overcame the track bias in a bold effort and beat all but Transatlantic, which reads very well for this. He’s hard fit now, flying and I think he can take this out at a nice price.

BEST BET - #3 - Kanzawa (BEST BET)
Kanzawa is a bit on the short side for me but a winner is a winner and I am pretty confident he wins this. The O’Dea/Hoystead representative resumed a couple weeks ago off a decent spell in a Doomben 1200m contest where he sat on the speed and looked to have every chance but his fitness just told late as he faded inside the last 200m to finish third. He takes a natural step up in distance, is a second up winner, has plenty more to offer here and will undoubtedly look the winner a long way. 

THE DANGER - #2 - I Am Lethal
I Am Lethal should be winning this easily at his best, he just hasn’t found his best in some time. He was with John O’Shea and found success under him for some time before dropping off and has now switched camps to Munce and had a few runs. The last of which came over the 1400m at Warwick Farm where he boxed along the speed nicely but faded badly late and I think there were some unseen issues there. If he shows up the way we all know he can then he likely wins.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Hasten Delight
Beware the undefeated horse.. Hasten Delight has been flying at the provincials and deserves a crack at this competition. He’s had two runs back from a 17 week spell and had dominantly saluted in both. He resumed in a very strong Murwillumbah BM58 tha has had three subsequent winners emerge from the race, beating the likes of Burdekin and Miss Wallflower there before racing over the 1200m at Ipswich last time out where he found plenty to get the job done again. He looks a smart horse who has a bit of talent about him and I am keen to see where he goes if he can take this out.

BEST BET - #5 - Spinel (NEXT BEST) 
All signs point towards Blue Spinel taking this race out and whilst I think the price is fair, a $4.50 winner is always a nice bet to land. Tony Gollan has her flying at the moment and she will be well placed at any track up North. She had a soft kill in her maiden race two runs back and then stepped out to a 1050m Rockhampton race where he set third in the run before driving along the fence to to hit the front around the 300m mark and was never in doubt from there. Fourth up now, hard fit and back to his own age / sex will be very strong under Angela Jones I am confident.

THE DANGER - #1 - Burnish Gold 
Burnish Gold is a bomb fresh horse who gets a key booking of James Orman and that is the main reason why I like his chances here. The Lipp trained runner hasn’t been seen at the races since early April where he finished off the campaign with a couple respiratory issues and now has been afforded a decent break and looks set for a big return. He’s got a win and bob of the line second placing in two first up runs, draws a nice gate and gets the top Qld Jockey aboard. I have seen this set up too many times to ignore it.

VALUE BET - #2 - Deb’s Ellie
Deb’s Ellie is a front running horse which will hold her in good stead for this and she should find plenty here fit now off the back of some nice runs this time in. Last time out she ran in an 1100m Rockhampton 3YO Handicap where she sat on the speed and then moved through her gears to draw clear of the field in the big straight for a great win. She’s a dynamic horse that will still have a change of speed from out front and should look the winner a long way here.
