Saturday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 30/09/23

Racing returns to Eagle Farm this Saturday for a huge support card as the big racing in VIC and NSW is supported by a solid nine race card up North. There are some very progressive horses making their way to Queensland for the feature and meeting overall and I am keen to jump into things so follow me below!

BEST BET - #8 - Mighty Willie (BEST BET)
I am giving another chance to Chris Waller’s Mighty Willie who stepped out to the 2400m from the 2000m a fortnight ago and he looked the winner a long way but when the going got tough in the last 200m he just didn’t have the capacity to finish it off and was swamped near the line. Back 200m off of that run looks positive and I think he is a decent price.

THE DANGER - #2 - Galifianakis
Galifianakis is as honest as they come for Jack Bruce and whilst he has been around the mark for some time I think that he wouldn’t have been placed here without a little bit of intent at least. He raced here a fortnight ago where he was against the shape of the race but still managed to come on strongly enough to be near the front of a bunched finish. He should get a more positive ride now and I think he will be prominent.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Namakwa
Namakwa is a horse I have plenty of time for and his form lines tie inton the other two picks I have in this race. I am not sure he is going as well as some of these but can definitely fill a first four spot here. His last run two weeks ago at this track saw him flying out front before fading right to the tail of the field and he will be a lot fitter now I think can fill a spot in the placings.

BEST BET - #4 - Zelezny (NEXT BEST)
I am keen on Kelly Schweida’s Zelezny who is just trialling far too well to ignore here. She comes off the back of a Deagon trial not too long ago where she took the lead and displayed a very nice stride, ridden with a fair bit of intent but really looking like a class animal. She draws the inside and maps to do pretty much the same work she did in that trial.

THE DANGER - #7 - Mishani Voltage
Mishani Voltage is another debutant here and has been trialling very nicely for her debut for Les Ross. She won a soft trial at Beaudesert and then recently stepped out at Doomben where she was ridden with a fair bit of intent and moved along very well to finish in the placings. She gets a soft draw from the inside and is a free running horse, likely in the finish here.

VALUE BET  - #12 - Innervisions
You have to give respect to any debutants that Annabel Neasham sends forward in Saturday grade and this colt comes up from trialling in Sydney where he wasn’t ridden all too hot and finished fifth in a recent Kensington trial. He’s one to check in the yard and see what the market does with him but there’s already been some money come on.

BEST BET - #1 - Regal Pom 
Regal Pom is a smart horse for Annabel Neasham who looks to have the right set up for this assignment. He gets in with no weight on his back with the claim from Wheeler and maps to find the front from a soft gate. He raced at Doomben a few weeks back where he looked to motor up to win and had the race in his grasp but just couldn’t get there late when fading down the track. He should be approaching peak fitness now and will be hard to run down from out front. 

THE DANGER - #16 - Mission Of Love
Mission Of love really got going last campaign before being sent away for a long thirty five week spell. He resumed off the back of that and showed he was all about it when last stepping out over the 1200m at the Sunshine Coast not too long ago where he angled clear on the turn and thundered down the straight for a big win. That was first up in a long time so with plenty of upside to come you can easily make a case to be in his corner again.

VALUE BET - #7 - Maurice’s Medad (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Maurice’s Medad, if he can overcome the bad gate, should towel these. He has come over to Barry Lockwood who is notorious for giving tried horses a new lease on life and that looks to be the case off the back of his debut for the stable a fortnight ago where he came on very strongly late and just missed to Dark Harmony. He’ll be a lot fitter now and gets out to his striking distance, I think he is a genuine winning chance.
