Saturday Racing Tips - Flemington Racecourse 15/07/23

Flemington Cup day has arrived already and we are well and truly underway for this Season’s Victorian Winter Carnival now. The day at Flemington racecourse sees Nine competitive races with a handful in Open grade and the rest in high Benchmark contests. Our feature of the day is the Deane Lester Flemington Cup in race six, an open staying contest over the 2800m that should see some of the premier stables in the country putting forward runners. I am keen to get stuck into things so follow me as I outline the race day below!

Flemington R2 - L.V Lachal Hcp (1700m)

Selections:
#7 - Cosmic Enigma (BEST BET)- $5.00
#3 - Magnaspin - $6.00
#5 - Slane - $9.00
#16 - Smokin' Princess - $9.00

BEST BET - #7 - Cosmic Enigma (BEST BET)
Cosmic Enigma looks like he should find this race very suitable for Richard Cully. He comes into this off about a month’s break since shedding the maiden tag during the Swan Hill Carnival. That was over the mile there when he sat back, relished the hot speed and launched over them late with a good ride from Allen. He’s one of the few that comes into this with heaps of upside in a field where most are on their way to being spelled.

THE DANGER - #3 - Magnaspin
Magnaspin offers plenty of upside here for the Corstens stable and we have been following him in his two runs back from a spell and does look set to peak here third up now. He resumed off a long 21 week spell at this course when having a massive finish from deep and out wide to run past most of the field and finish fourth there before racing at Caulfield three weeks back where he was held up a few times in the run and still powered into third but easily could have won there with less traffic. He looks set to peak now and should run very well.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Slane
I really like the look of the Jusufovic trained Slane who hasn’t given us a reason thus far to not think he will present strongly here. The lightly raced three year old has only had two career starts thus far, the debut coming at Sale when taking over at the 200m in the Heavy and kicking away for a soft win to break maiden with two winners already coming out of that race. He then raced last time out in the Heavy again at Sandown Lakeside and was good in defeat, finishing third off a suck run. Has plenty to offer here third up and out in trip and should get a soft run from the low draw.

Flemington R4 -Vrc Member Shane Murray Hcp (1400m)

Selections:
#7 - The Creator  - $5.50
#4 - Legio Ten- $2.90
#1 - Tijuana (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $15.00
#3 - Cause For Concern - $3.90

BEST BET - #7 - The Creator
The Creator is a very interesting runner who I think can take out what is not an overly strong race under the Price & Kent stable. He was brought by the stable to New Zealand for his debut prep at the beginning of the year and raced in a 1400m and 1600m then when saluting dominantly in both and running fast times. He gets in well weighted with the booking of Pinn and I think that he will go very well here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Legio Ten
Legio Ten always has to be respected and this will be the softest race he has contested in some time but I just think he might be on the way back to the paddock. The Cummings trained runner resumed racing at the end of May this year and put together two sharp wins on the bounce together before racing in the Creswick Stakes two weeks ago where Melham put him in a good spot to run down the leaders but just couldn’t get there when third. I think he obviously runs well here if there is still petrol in the tank, in which case he should give a sight from out front.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Tijuana (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
The Hayes trained three year old Tijuana looked to be a very promising horse during the Spring but hasn’t been doing too much since then. However he comes into this off the back of a resuming run in the Creswick that the aforementioned Legio Ten was in when he just didn’t do anything, finishing down the track. However, he’s proven second up, goes out in trip and back in depth. If he fires it should be now.

Flemington R6 - Deane Lester Flemington Cup (2800m)

Selections:
#3 - Mimi’s Award (NEXT BEST) - $4.80
#6 - Le Baol - $4.50
#11 - Brawl - $23.00
#1 - Irish Sequel - $9.00

BEST BET - #3 - Mimi’s Award (NEXT BEST)
This race looks like a good setup for Mimi’s Award who is absolutely flying for the Hayes stable and to be honest generally is flying. She last raced here over just 200m shyer than this and improved from six deep to be a lot closer in the run and then charge to the front at the 400m and jet away for a 4-5 length win. Stackhouse knows her well now and they only have to hold form to take this out. Keen on her prospects.

THE DANGER - #6 - Le Baol
Le Baol is a jumps horse but has proven to us that he is very much so a dangerous flat horse as well. He raced about a month ago here first up off a six week break when fighting to the line off a tough run to just fade when the early effort cost him late, fading into fourth position. He then raced in a Maiden hurdle a few weeks back at Warrnambool where he won by 25 lengths, powering away in the flat section. He’s in form, hard fit third up and will be dangerous here undoubtedly.

VALUE BET - #11 - Brawl
Brawl is an outsider here for the Presuker stable who I’m not sure has what it takes to win this but can definitely fill a first four spot at odds. The stable has been flying recently in the Provincials, with us picking up a few winners from them in our best bets tips. His last three runs have come at Swan Hill at the 2400m+ and after a close placing and solid back up run last time out he raced over the 2500m where set off the pace along the rail seventh before being asked for the effort and taken out wide by Toeroek but was dominant late and powered away from his rivals. He will have more to offer now and will be ready for the step out in trip.

He is known to perform exceptionally well on major race days, and he has secured a significant number of rides for this weekend's racing at Flemington Park Lakeside, I have outlined them all below:

Multi Tips For Flemington Racecourse

One of the most significant considerations in picking up multiple winners is the track bias, which favors horses that don’t get too far back in the run at Flemington Racecourse. As a result, horses drawn on the inside have a better chance of performing well compared to those drawn towards the outside. I have factored in this aspect when making my multi bets, taking into account the horses' respective preps and their drawn barrier positions. Follow below for a multi to track over race day!

R2 - #7 - Cosmic Enigma - PLC $1.95
R4 - #1 - Tijuana - PLC $3.50
R6 - #3 - Mimi’s Award - PLC $1.70

Total Odds = $11.60

Best Promotions for Flemington Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
