Saturday Racing Tips - Gold Coast Racecourse 06/01/24

Racing returns to Gold Coast this Saturday for a belter nine race card as The Wave Day takes place and there is $1.7 million on offer across the card. There looks to be some very high level horses up north that are on the card so I am keen to get underway with my bets and I have run through the card and picked out my best betting spots so follow me below!

BEST BET - #2 - Spywire (BEST BET)
You would have to think Spywire just gets the job done here for Maher and Eustace after having only done good work in his two career starts after winning powerfully on debut at Rosehill and then clocking an extremely impressive runner up placing in the Wyong Magic Millions. He actually pulled up lame then so now that everything is okay again he will be so strong here I am confident.

THE DANGER - #4 - Balastier
I think that the main danger to the favourite is Tony Gollan’s Balastier who shapes up very well here. He comes here on debut after winning a trial very sharply at Daegon where he sat on the speed and was moving very nicely when second to his stablemate. He seemed to have plenty in the tank then and I think has been very well prepared for start one.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Beau Dazzler
The Sears camp sends out Beau Dazzler as a representative in this race and he comes out of the Phelan Ready where he let his rivals get a ways in front but just improved all run to eventually claim the race in very sharp style. I think 1100m is perfect for him off the back of that and he will be on his way to the Magic Millions.

BEST BET - #10 - Vanquished
Surely Vanquished can get the job done for the Waterhouse / Bott stable after the way he ran last time out at Warwick Farm when he found the front and looked the winner a long way but just couldn’t hold on when going down third to Gelatin. He now shapes up a lot fitter for that run and gets back atop the ground, he’ll be hard to beat here.

THE DANGER - #7 - Pasima
Pasima is a smart horse for Maher and Eustace who comes here off of a little break and I think he has been kept for this en route to the Magic Millions. He hasn’t seen racing since the beginning of December where he made up a lot of ground late to place third to a smart horse in Zouphora. He’s had a strong trial between runs and rates highly here.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Wymark (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Wymark comes here after resuming from a solid spell at The Hawkesbury where he returned to racing very impressively after jumping awkwardly and then being forced wide in the run but still managing to find plenty to power home and almost win the race when a narrow second. That was an impressive return and he should get plenty more of a chance now.

BEST BET - #17 - Chilli Filly (NEXT BEST)
If you have been following me awhile you would know how much I like Chilli Filly for Kris Lees and I think that she is likely looking towards the Guineas next week and needs the win here if that’s the case. She won at Randwick on Boxing Day in fine fashion and clocked some great splits. I think the rise in trip is suitable to her sit and sprint style and she is the leading contender for me.

THE DANGER - #11 - Junqueira
Junqueira won on this race day last year and I think she has since been primed to do the same. She comes out of a Randwick race three weeks back where she couldn’t get going when not given a chance but really should have finished a lot closer than she did. She’s had a nice trial between runs and finds a winnable race here, think she goes close.

VALUE BET - #10 - Esseffninety
Smart horse for the Kennewell stable who are absolutely flying in Esseffninenty who hasn’t raced since December eighth when he clocked a smart placing at Moonee Valley behind a sharp horse. He did seem to have his moment then but I think now with the tick over trial the other week and getting to the 1300m he will be strong here.
