Saturday Racing Tips - Gold Coast Racecourse 09/03/24

Racing comes back to the Gold Coast this Saturdy as a solid support card for the listed racing in NSW and VIC and we have some huge racing across Australia with some of the premiere horses in the north stepping out.. I am very excited for this card and have picked out my best betting spots of the day!

BEST BET - #10 - Plaimont (NEXT BEST)
Nice looking bet in the opener in Plaimont who steps out here off the back of a very sharp maiden win at Grafton over the 1720m where she made a mess of the field in a very bold display. I think Kris Lees has her rearing to go and stepping out at the 1800m now looks ideal for her, with plenty of upside, keen to have something on her.

THE DANGER - #1 - Blue Ray
Blue Ray should be approaching his peak here after racing at Doomben a fortnight ago in the He’s For The Girls where he got taken back from the wide gate but gee he was flying home well. I think that he still has plenty of upside coming into this and will relish getting out in trip, only runs well for me.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Divazino
Divazino has been quite good since coming back to racing for Marcus Wilson. He smashed a soft field at Murwillumbah two runs back to shed the maiden tag before stepping out at Doomben last week and out to the 2040m when third to a smart horse. He comes back in depth now, hard fit and I think will be one of the strongest late here.

BEST BET - #1 - Daytona Bay (BEST BET)
Haven’t heard from this guy in awhile until he stepped out a couple weeks ago but I have always been a fan of Daytona Bay and he stepped out a couple weeks ago at Doomben when copping the pain barrier but he stuck to his task very well in defeat when running into second place there. I think hard fit and back on top of the ground as well as at this trip he will be tough to beat and looks one of the better placed favourites of the meeting.

THE DANGER - #13 - Red Top
Always nice to see Red Top stepping out for the Sears camp and this guy has had three runs this time in and really looks to be starting to get into his groove now after his run a couple weeks ago. He was caught wide at Doomben last time out but didn’t let that deter him when sticking to his task well and placing third to his stablemate there. From a good draw now and with a bit more luck in running he will make this a race.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Wapiti
Wapiti is a class horse he just needs to find his best here to be a threat. He ran two weeks ago at Doomben where he looked to track the pace very nicely into the race but just was a bit one paced in the straight and couldn’t get there. He now goes out in trip which seems like it is what he’s been looking for and I think he can make an impact here.

BEST BET - #3 - Boom Torque
There’s a couple I like in this race but none better than Matty Dunn’s Boom Torque who is having an outstanding prep thus far at the races. He won on Magic Million Day here and has since ran twice at Doomben where he really hit back hard last time out a fortnight ago with a rails hugging ride to win well. I think he’s the horse they’ll have to get past here and he won’t make it easy.

THE DANGER - #1 - Legal Espirit (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Dangerous horse here for Donald Baker in Legal Espirit who we had two weeks back at Doomben where he got into a beautiful spot behind the leaders before finding a gap in the straight and letting down with purpose to win very well and be strong through the line. He’s out to 1400m for the first time but I don’t think Baker would have placed him here without intent and in a thin race I am keen to have something on him at a nice price.

VALUE BET - #2 - Master Jamie
One I am happy to entertain at odds and who looks good on the ratings system is Master Jamie who ran in the Sunshine Coast Cup at the end of January where he had to run his legs off to find the front and then just couldn’t hack it in the straight, finishing behind Kinloch. I imagine they will change the tactics here and find a sit for him and he’s had a sharp trial to lead him back into racing so should be strong here.
