Saturday Racing Tips - Gold Coast Racecourse 13/01/24

Damn! Magic Millions day has arrived at the Gold Coast and we have a monstrous $13.5 million dollar card on the horizon with most of the races being for a share of $1 million prize money but the 2YO feature and 3YO feature races of the day both being for a share of $3 million prize money. I am very excited for this card and have picked out my best betting spots of the day!

BEST BET - #2 - Barracuda (NEXT BEST)
Barracuda is on debut here for the Waterhouse / Bott camp and given that they rarely gets things wrong with their debutants and the way that he trialled a few weeks back behind Highness, the Wyong Magic Millions winner I think that you just have to trust he is going to be very strong on debut here given the way the camp goes with their juveniles. 

THE DANGER - #10 - The Hamo
The Hamo looks like a very honest customer here for the Hulbert camp. He had a trial a few weeks back when leading at Doomben and being ridden with intent there to win and win well. He should find the front with ease here and the Gold Coast is known for aiding those out front so I think all things considered he rates highly.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Indecisive
Indecisive looks a solid type for John Thompson and has been prepped with a couple trials to resume back to the races here. He won well at Kembla before stepping out at Rosehill when looking nice in his stride again. If they go hard up front he’s going to look amazing late.

BEST BET - #3 - Zennzella
Zenzella has to rate as the leading contender for Maher and Eustace after winning the Lord Stakes on Boxing Day where Jamie Kah road her a peach but it did seem like the horse could have won with any half decent steer then. I think that she will relish getting further out in trip now and looks strong for this.

THE DANGER - #6 - So United 
Pretty hard to knock So United for the Waterhouse and Bott camp combining with Clarky. She sat on the speed a couple weks ago at Randwick before clicking up to win and she won so well there. She has won at this trip before and the way the stable’s going it’s just not worth knocking their runners.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Warning (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I used to love Warning when he was racing in the Heavy as anyone did but I think that from what we have seen lately in his runs he has become more of a genuine Dry tracking horse. He stepped out at Flemington first up and did really well on the speed before not doing anything in the Summer Cup a couple weeks later. Back onto the dry deck and a good set up, feels like he’s overs.

BEST BET - #1 - Storm Boy (BEST BET) 
Little bit short is Storm Boy but it is justifiable I guess. He has only had the two starts to his career but both have been absolutely brutal wins and it is hard to see this being the race that stops him now. His last run came at Eagle Farm where he absolutely belted the field. He’s a very good thing going and I think rates highly once again.

THE DANGER - #4 - Highness
Highness is the most recent Wyong Magic Millions winner and he did beat a smart customer in Spywire who, to be fair, pulled up lame just after. Despite this, Highness still had to be going well enough to win there and he’s had another sharp trial between runs. Mick Freedman and Tommy Berry are generally a brutal combo for these kinds of races and it would be unwise to knock him.

VALUE BET - #3 - Parkour
Parkour is a sharp horse for Godolphin that is still learning and might not be at this level yet but he is improving and might just surprise these. He won very well at Randwick last time out when letting them get a ways in front and then smashing the field to the line. Kah came to Sydney to ride him then and now follows up to Queensland so this horse is clearly not just any other runner.
