Saturday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 12/08/23

Huge day of racing set for Moonee Valley with a ten race card set for the course up North and there is $1.3million of prize money available across the card and all of the races will be in mixed benchmark grade but the majority of them are in high benchmark grade with a few competitive staying races and a couple 1000m sprints to kick the card off and I am very excited for this meeting and keen to get stuck into things so follow me below for a great day of racing at The Valley!

BEST BET - #2 - Title Fighter (NEXT BEST) 
I am pretty confident that Title Fighter is going to be in for a big Spring if he puts this away which he could do based on the splits and the win style he displayed when making his debut. He’s had just the one career start for the Douglas stable, coming at this track and trip two weeks ago where he found the lead and kept them all softly at bay there. There was a massive leader’s bias that day which must be considered but all in all the splits were very impressive and that was only his debut run. More to offer here, nice gate and can win again.

THE DANGER - #3 - Lakota Fire
Lakota Fire produced an electric win last time out at Morphettville over this sprint distance where he sat outside a hot speed and should have been gone on the turn but found a big kick in the straight and put a few lengths on them. That run was seriously full of merit and you would think he is going to have even more to offer now. He maps to lob straight onto the speed again and at The Valley that is crucial at these distance ranges. Doubt he runs badly here.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Piastri 
Piastri can hit back hard here stepping back in trip after racing last time out at Caulfield over the 1200m where he wasn’t totally suited to a slow run tempo and that trip when finishing down the track. The run prior over the 1100m on the Synthetic at Pakenham was pretty unreal where he was three wide all trip and still let down with so much purpose to win dominantly. He will be hard fit now and can get a much more economical run, looks suited back to this distance as well.

BEST BET - #10 - Hissy Fit
I think that the near 10kg weight swing that Hissy Fit gets on the favourite Twin Perfection is good enough to make a winning case for him at $4+ odds as I think this is a two horse race. The booking of leading apprentice Wiremu Pinn sees him getting in at 53.5kg and he will have plenty to offer after resuming off of a long spell at Sandown over this distance where he set three deep in the run and then drove to the front around the turn to just miss in an awesome return. He’s going to improve sharply into this and am keen to see how he goes.

THE DANGER - #4 - Twin Perfection
Twin Perfection steps up to Saturday grade and has well and truly earned his chance at this contest. He’s put together two sharp wins in his last two runs with a dominant 1000m in BM70 grade on the Ballarat Synthetic before going to Sandown Hillside and sticking at the trip where he found plenty under pressure to beat the likes of Luna Cat and co. He meets some tougher company here and has to cary 62kg under Spain but he has the class to run well again.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Jungle Sensation (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Jungle Sensation has been putting in very good performances at the Provincial tracks, when only second up where he set second in the run and kept chasing hard all run and edged clear of them late. He backed that effort up with another big run at Moe in the Heavy last time out when he peaked just a bit too early in the run and found one or two better in the straight. He likely needs it wetter than this but will be hard fit and strong undoubtedly.

BEST BET - #5 - Flash Flood (BEST BET) 
Flash Flood is putting together some awesome wins and rates very highly against these and with the Maher and Eustace camp once these horses hit winning form they have to be respected as they generally go on with it. He was completely against the shape of the race when racing her last time out and was the only winner on the day that got the job done against the track pattern for a very strong win. I think he likely goes on with it now, mapping to get a much more economical run in transit as well.

THE DANGER - #2 - Milford
Milford probably should have won at this track and trip a fortnight back where he just couldn’t get clear air at a crucial stage when he looked to be winding up massively and held third placing behind Flash Feeling, which reads very well for this. There’s obviously real intent by the stable to atone for that going back out now at the same trip and I think that as long as he gets some clear air this time he will be very hard to hold out late in the run. 

VALUE BET - #7 - Deepstrike 
Deepstrike should be ready for this trip now and the way that the Price and Kent stable are going with their stayers this season I think that he is an honest chance backing up now. He ran last weekend at Flemington over the mile where he was forced to be posted out wide and clocked some massive splits late to finish in the middle of the pack in a tough run. He will be a lot fitter for that and will have plenty more time to come on now with the added 400m. I think he only runs well here.
