Saturday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 26/08/23

Huge day of racing set for Moonee Valley as we see ten competitive high level races in Victoria hosted at the track and amongst the mixture of sprints / mid distance / staying races there is the listed feature of the day, the Paramount Liquor Carlyon Stakes, a 1000m sprint run in race eight for a share of $175,000 prize money. There looks to be some super progressive horses racing who are no doubt readying for some of the bigger races of the Group 1 racing season and I am keen to get stuck into things so follow me below for a great day of racing at The Valley!

Moonee Valley R7 - Ranvet Hcp (2040m)

Selections:
#6 - Brayden Star (BEST BET) - $3.30
#3 - Interpretation - $5.00
#2 - Normandy Bridge - $13.00
#4 - Jimmy The Bear - $6.00

BEST BET - #6 - Brayden Star (BEST BET)
I think most of the good betting spots at The Valley will be later on the program. Whilst that its a bit scary due to track conditions deteriorating generally over the course of the day, the bias at The Valley generally doesn’t change too sharply and I think that the Busuttin / Young trained Brayden Star is going to be tough to beat here. He raced a few weeks ago at Flemington when stepping out for the first time in about six weeks and showed he was very much still in form when having too much for them and winning well. Natural improvement from the quicker turn around this time should carry him well enough to beat these.

THE DANGER - #3 - Interpretation
You’d have to think coming from the Maher and Eustace giants that Interpretation is going to improve sharply into this race and definitely has what it takes to claim this. He resumed off a long spell at this track over the mile where he placed third in a nice run that saw him just keep finding the line all run. Now goes out in trip second up off that long spell, he’s fitter for that resumption run and will have plenty more to offer than the first up run.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Normandy Bridge
I reckon the only reason we are seeing such a price on Normandy Bridge is due to his run at Flemington over this distance last time out where he was ridden far too hot and IMO definitely had some issues as he just dropped out of the race completely there. Prior to then, he was putting some sharp wins together on the bounce where he did have some favours but regardless was still in Saturday company and had been running awesomely. He definitely has what it takes to measure up with these, is hard fit and flying I would say.

Moonee Valley R8 - Paramount Liquor Carlyon Stakes (1000m)

Selections:
#8 - Omni Man (NEXT BEST) - $3.40
#7 - Acromantula - $4.20
#1 - Sweet Ride - $7.00
#4 - Generation - $4.00

BEST BET - #8 - Omni Man (NEXT BEST)
Here comes Omni Man once again, keen to see what he does here off the back of his run at this track / trip a fortnight ago where he missed the start and at a track like this that will pretty much cost you the race. He’s still a high class animal however and showed he’s not going anywhere when he almost came back to win and beat all but Sweet Ride. Before then he’s been putting together these belter wins and we now get a decent price on him again (not great). He will almost certainly atone for that effort, lob onto the speed here and be too good for these.

THE DANGER - #7 - Acromantula
I have been pretty keen for awhile to see Acromantula get out of WA and off the back of a 19 week spell he resumed for his first prep outside of WA when at this track and trip where he really looked to relish coming here in a very close third placing that only saw him beaten inside the last 50/75m by Omni Man and Sweet Ride. I’m very keen to see what happens now being second up off that spell and better for his first outting outside of WA.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Sweet Ride
Crazy that out of the three of these that all raced each other last time, Sweet Ride was the one that beat the other two and is now the longest in the market. I see it from the perspective that Omni Man would have won if not for the jump and Acromantula has the most upside in this field. However, Sweet Ride is now hard fit, has that winning feeling and clearly doesn’t have to improve much to win this.

Moonee Valley R9 - BoozeBud Hcp (1519m)

Selections:
#7 - St Lawrence - $1.95
#6 - Deny Knowledge - $6.00
#5 - Regardsmaree (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $15.00
#11 - French Emperor - $11.00

BEST BET - #7 - St Lawrence
Again, likely one of the better bets on the program in St Lawrence for Maher and Eustace who looks to be a high class animal that should prove very difficult to beat. He’s two from two this prep with both runs over the 1400m at Caulfield where he has looked shaky at times but his class keeps seeing him home and now he should be at just about peak fitness and goes out 100m in trip which looks ideal. I don’t think there’s too much more to it, class horse, keen to watch him step out again tomorrow.

THE DANGER - #6 - Deny Knowledge
Deny Knowledge is a good thing going for Mick Kent I am convinced. She was set to resume in the PB Lawrence last weekend but they saved him for this and that intent is good enough for me to be considering her prospects here. She comes back to racing after a belter lead them out, hold them off to win in the Country Oaks and has been carefully kept for a big spring. She doesn’t take many to get going and strikes a winnable first up race.

VALUE BET - #5 - Regardsmaree (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Great horse for Nick Ryan in Regardsmaree who is starting to get up in age, I feel like he was prominent when I first started to get into racing but he continues to put in good efforts and last time out he was third up from  spell when he stepped out over the 1400m at Flemington and after missing the start and looking a dud he clicked up hard late in the piece to place in good fashion behind Edison and TIjuana. He should have plenty to offer still here and will be strong through the run.

Best Promotions for Moonee Valley Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
