Saturday Racing Tips - Moonee Valley Racecourse 27/01/24

Racing returns to Moonee Valley for the Sharp Eit Solutions Australia Stakes, a Group two race run over the 1200m for a share of $350k prize money and I am very excited for this race day as the quality of racing really starts to rise in Australia. I have gone across the card and picked out my best betting spots and outlined them below so follow me!

BEST BET - #4 - Ceerseven (BEST BET)
Ceerseven seems like a good betting spot to kick the day off at Moonee Valley. This Mitch Freedman trained runner resumed to racing over the 1400m at Geelong a couple weeks ago where he was posted near last in the run and despite not being a winning chance he was flying home behind a smart horse. With plenty of upside here, market’s all over him but I am still happy to take the ~$2.30 quote we see at the moment.

THE DANGER - #3 - Brooklyn Boss
It looks like the main threat to Ceerseven will be the Roughan camp’s Brooklyn Boss who comes here third up and with more to offer off the back of his last start win. He showed big improvements when stepping out over the mile at Pakenham last time out and setting fourth and two wide in the run before not letting that get to him and still powering through the field to win well. That was a mighty impressive win, he has more upside to give and will be strong here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Adandiman
Adandiman is a horse that hasn’t put a foot wrong for the Daberning camp and comes here after stepping out at Warrnambool last time out over the 1400m, finding the lead and never letting go of it when very strong through the line in winning. He now gets turned around a lot quicker for this assignment so all things considered I think this effort will be even more bold.

BEST BET - #9 - Very Sewreel
Decent little race here but I think that the Flemington form will stack up for Very Sewreel who last stepped out at Flemington two weeks ago and looked the winner a long way but just couldn’t finish the race off when gunned down very late by a sharp and progressive horse. I think after the short break from racing he will shape up here even stronger and I think his win comes now.

THE DANGER - #1 - Kind Gesture
Kind Gesture has to take on the big weight here but it wouldn’t be without reason and this Mick Kent runner can take this out in style if he shows up the way he did last time out. He was six weeks between runs when last stepping out at Flemington and doing amazing work out wide and then striking interference through the run in an effort that he placed second but really should have won with any luck at all. Should be as switched on here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Dane On Tour (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
If you have been following me for awhile you would know how much of a fan I am of the Feek camp’s dane on tour who hasn’t been seen at the races since running fourth to Regal Vow at Flemington two weeks back. The win prior was very sharp and she was a month between runs last time out so I think with upside, residual fitness and momentum on her side she will be tough here.

BEST BET - #8 - Veight (NEXT BEST) 
Veight has been thrilling in his short seven start career and it is nice to see him come back to racing in an assignment like this after not having raced since November in the Coolmore Stud where he ran on very well into fifth place from a nothing spot where he couldn’t have won the race there. He’s undefeated first up and with no public trials to lead him back into racing you would have to think the McEvoy’s have something up their sleeve.

THE DANGER - #3 - Recommendation
Recommendation has to rate as one of the leading contenders in quite an open edition of this race. This Maher and Eustace runner did heaps of work in the Canterbury Classic when sitting on the speed throughout the run before being claimed by Insurrection late in the piece. He will be sharper for that run and has been targeted for this race. Go well.

VALUE BET - #1 - Crosshaven
Crosshaven is the one at longer odds to be entertained for me. He last ran a couple weeks ago in the Standish at Flemington down the straight where he tried very hard but just couldn’t get there over an absolutely lethal horse who we had in our Saturday tips in Sghirripa. If they go hard out front he will be there launching late.
