Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick Racecourse 04/02/23

Racing continues at Randwick to back up an exciting Friday card with Metro grade racing and there’s a massive ten race meeting with a total of $1.5 million prize available across all races on the card. The feature race of the day is the FUJITSU GENERAL ESKIMO PRINCE in race 8, an open group three sprint over the 1200m. The rail is out +8m and the track is rated a good 4, I expect it to remain within this range.

BEST BET - #9 - Sicilian (BEST BET)
Sicilian resumes today for the Gai/Bott stable and has been trialling awesomely. Last prep she was trialling well before debuting when battling away on debut behind her stablemate Platinum Jubilee. She maps to jump on the bunny and I think she will give them a sight to run down.

THE DANGER - #5 - Madeira Sunrise 

Madeira Sunrise is on debut here for Michael Freedman and must be respected from a prominent stable and more so as J-mac gets the booking. He has had just the two soft public trials to ready him for this, coming on strongly to place in both. I think he has the making of quite a talented type and this looks within reach first up.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Satin And Silk
Satin and Silk is a Filly from I Am Invincible for Team Snowden that resumes today. She was pretty ordinary on debut in the Spring in the Gimcrack behind Platinum Jubilee but still showed something was there with a pretty solid kick and nice running pattern. She has had a couple of trials to ready her for a return to the races and has been asked for effort in all of them so i think that they can fire fresh.

BEST BET - #9 - Super Bright (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Super Bright comes into this third up for Nathan Doyle and off the back of last run really does look ready to fire third up. He raced at Rosehill over the 1200m two weeks back and was fantastic there, getting bumped around a couple times and still chasing hard when finally getting clear in the last 150m to come second. He is rock hard fit now, has the runs on board, gets in light and Schiller sticks. They’ve drawn the rail and I think that he will give a sight here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Pretty Wild 
Pretty Wild is a Waller trained mare that comes off a super close second placing on Gong Day at Kembla Grange racecourse, then having a short let up before going to Randwick a couple weeks later where she was ridden to hard early and the run told, finishing further down the track behind Po Kare Kare. If the tactics are correct and aligned with that first run she can take this out. 

VALUE BET  - #10 - Anagain
Anagain looks to be ready for this after finding form again. She had the blinkers put on her at Canterbury last run, being ridden cold and given time to wind up. That looks to be the right strategy with her as she absolutely bolted to the line late when second to the in form Essonne, 20 meters more and she wins that. The bigger track and out to 1300m look like positive moves for her.

BEST BET - #3 - Aft Cabin (NEXT BEST)
Aft Cabin should have something on this field. The godolphin colt resumes here and was regarded as the best 3YO colt over the 1400m-1600m in VIC. She got injured before the Caulfield Guineas and was spelled to ready his for Autumn. His recent trial was beautiful and again I really do think he has a bit on these. I am only worried by where he settles in the run from the gate but if anyone can give him the right run its J-mac and I will have something on.

THE DANGER - #5 - Osipenko 
There’s a lot of interest in Osipenko and I think it is justified. He really could be a group one horse, racing for the Waller stable. Most of my interest comes because he was so strong in the Caulfield Guineas, he had a shocker gate there and still finished third behind the very genuine Golden Mile. He maps for a much softer run in transit here and will be super strong late. I may be backing multiple horses in this race..

VALUE BET - #2 - Williamsburg 
Why is Williamsburg such massive odds here? He was pretty good in the spring before dropping off a bit towards the end. He picked up a win in the Dulcify amongst other group races. It does look like this is a setup run as he races excellently over longer distances than this. However, he trialled nicely and he loves this track so if they are running hard up front I don’t see why him and Osipenko’s chances are too different in taking this out.

I have opted to make a place multi with the runners that I think are the best value for Saturday’s racing at Randwick as I think that with metro grade racing there is often a few big price winners and runners in the placings that emerge and I think that some of the runners I have outlined are priced incorrectly. It’s a bit of a riskier play but if we hit this bet it’ll be well worth it.
