Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick Racecourse 08/04/23

This Saturday's racing at Randwick for Day Two of the Championships will feature a high-caliber card of black type racing, including ten races with four Group 1 races. The total prize money available for the card is almost $12 million, with Longiness Queen Elizabeth Stake being the highlight of the day, for a share of $5 million prize pool in a 2000m race. The rail is out +4m and the track is rated to be a Heavy 8, the amount of rain we are getting today in NSW should see it stay a Heavy 9.

BEST BET - #6 - Make A Call - (BEST BET)
Make a Call ran two weeks in the Baillieu Stakes at Rosehill and he was far from disgraced there when coming from near last on the turn to end up fourth to the very prominent Amur and was beaten under a length there. He may be a six start maiden but he seems to want the mile and Jmac jumps aboard, the wider track should suit as well.

THE DANGER - #2 - Inhibitions

Inhibitions kicked off his career with a win in a Canterbury maiden and since then hasn’t done much wrong at all. He has finished as runner up in the last three of his runs when he hasn’t always had the best of luck. However, in his last run he really showed he is still firing this prep when running a very very close second to Amur in the aforementioned T L Baillieu. That form reads very well for this, and whilst others have more upside than him, he will be the one they have to beat.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Kintyre
Kintyre has returned to racing in very good stead for the flying Portelli stable. She ran two back at Newcastle when having a tough on pace run and managing to find more to kick clear and score strongly. She then backed it up with a super close second placing at Warwick Farm last time out over the 1400m when juts going down second to Ravello. The step up in trip looks natural now and he should be contesting this race.

BEST BET - #3 - Autumn Ballet - (NEXT BEST)
Autumn Ballet hasn’t raced since she made one of the biggest statements I have seen last season making her debut in the Black Opal and being the first horse in history to win that race on debut. She was sent back to the paddock after that and the Gai/Bott stable has kept us all on edge till then. They’ve obviously had that race in mind and with a true run 1200m she couldn’t be more suited here. Top chance.

THE DANGER - #2 - Bossy Nic 

Bossy Nic is racing for the Mcevoy camp and they’re bringing her up to Sydney after she thrashed her rivals two weeks ago at Flemington on the straight where she really went through her gears to put a decent margin on her competition there. She looks to be all the better for that and I think despite the rise in grade/depth she will be competitive throughout the race.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Ethereal Star

Ethereal Star has to be respected here as you very rarely see New Zealand juveniles coming across to Australia but the Forsman stable knows what they are doing and there’s clearly serious intent here, bringing her over. She’s been in hot form, placing second in the Karake Million and then finishing down the track to Tokyo Tycoon again in her recent run. That horse is an absolute star and the form / sectionals do read well for this. Lane is on and they can run a cracker.

BEST BET - #1 - Anamoe (BEST BET)
If the paper race delivers in person it could be one of potentially the best races we see this season. Anamoe is the star of the country and has the runs on board. This is his Grand Finale for Australian racing before being shipped away so I would think that Cummings has him in right order for this. He did it tough in the George Ryde stakes and was right there to be beaten but he just kept finding the line and class won him that race. Last time he was at this distance he won the Cox PLate and I just don’t see him running a bad race.

THE DANGER - #2 - Dubai Honour
Dubai Honour could be the next big Australian star and if he makes improvements off the back of his Ranvet win he could really bring something to Anamoe. He went through his geers like a very good horse there but the Ranvet form was really bad as a whole given how those runners went in the Tancred the subsequent week. He’s had the Haggas touch to lead him into this and the stable has a ridiculous record in this race.

VALUE BET - #4 - Cascadian
I was pretty keen on Cascadian a couple weeks ago in the All star Mile where he came so damn close but just couldn’t get one over the in form Mr Brightside and then he went onto the Australian Cup where he barely managed to get out of a tricky spot but once he did his class showed and he exploded powerfully to win in the last few strides. I’m not sure if he has what it takes to beat the two aforementioned runners here but he has to be included regardless.
