Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick Racecourse 17/02/24

Racing comes back to Randwick this Saturday as the Autumn Group 1 races season kicks on and we have four listed races on the card with three Group 2 races at the course. It’s going to be a very high level card and I am very excited for this card and have run through and picked out my best betting spots of the day so follow me below!

BEST BET - #2 - Switzerland (BEST BET) 
This is going to be a riveting race to kick off the card at Randwick tomorrow. Chris Waller’s potential number one seed for the Golden Slipper steps out here off the back of a riveting debut a couple weeks ago when beating the likes of Castanya who went on to place runner up in the Lonhro Plate last weekend. Shapes up very well here with Jmac aboard and will be the horse to beat.

THE DANGER - #1 - Shangri La Express
The danger is obviously Waterhouse and Bott’s Shangri La Express who returns to racing here after winning the Golden Gift in mid November last year and remaining undefeated. He’s had two blitzing trials to ready him for a return to racing and is the top stable in the country’s top juvenile so watch closely.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Fly Fly
The Hawkes camp have been going very well with their juveniles lately and I think that whilst this does look a race in two it is worth giving Fly Fly a look for the exotics after the way he has been wound up for his debut at the races. He’s had two flying trials, winning each with a lot of purpose and now comes here with Lloyd aboard and at limit weight. Winning recipe…

BEST BET - #4 - C’Est Magique (NEXT BEST)
I think that it is hard to get away from Grahame Begg’s C’Est Magique after being given a solid break from racing since not living up to what she promised in Spring where she often looked like she was going to do something big but never produced it. I think that she is ready to return with a bang here after the way she has trialled for the return and I am excited for her to run.

THE DANGER - #5 - Olentia
Olentia is a sharp horse for Chris Waller that I think will return to racing better than she did when debuting in the Spring. She still ran well in Spring but just didn’t measure up in some of the races that she promised too. However, her trial work recently has been very sharp and whilst she will let them get out in front of her again here she’ll be the strongest late.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Either Oar
Ripper horse in Either Oar and if you have been following me for a little bit you would know how much I am a fan of the horse. We had her when she last stepped out a couple weeks ago where she appeared to be revving up to win but just couldn’t get one over Tashi when placing second by a head. She’s got a great racing style, shapes up hard fit here and is one for the exotics.

BEST BET - #5 - Attractable (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Attractable is one of my favourite horses in the country and I am obviously bias towards him when he won the Big Dance at a very big price and we were on him and then running runner up in the Ingham. He resumes here for Sara Ryan and probably has his eyes set on bigger things but he’s had a strong trial, comes up at another big price and I just think he’s such an honest horse he can take this out.

THE DANGER - #8 - Fangirl
Fangirl is a smart horse for Chris Waller that resumes here after an outstanding Spring where she took out the King Charles and finished things off with a sharp fourth placing in the Champions Mile. Her trial work has been more than encouraging for the return, she flies here and is from one of the best camps going around at the track. The horse to beat no doubt.

VALUE BET - #4 - Buckaroo
Buckaroo debuts for Chris Waller here after coming across from Joe O’Brien and his trial work has been absolutely amazing for the return so I have to give him a look here. His most recent trial saw him comfortably hold out Militarize in a sharp effort and I think he likely runs very well here off the back of those.
