Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick Racecourse 23/12/23

A ten race card heads to Randwick tomorrow and whilst we don’t have any listed racing it is still a pretty massive card with $1.5m on offer across the ten races and I am very keen on a few betting spots in particular and have run through the card below and picked them out so follow me below!

BEST BET - #5 - Mazita (NEXT BEST)
Mazita is shaping up to be a sharp horse for the Chandler camp after winning his last two starts, the most recent of which coming at Gosford where he raced over this trip and led before drawing clear of them late for a very smart win. I think he will be fine at this level of competition and rates highly here at a nice price.

THE DANGER - #4 - Sharp Shock
I do think that Sharp Shock is a somewhat deserving favourite for the Northam camp after racing in this race on Hunter Day before stepping out over the 1400m two weeks ago here and looking very strong when placing second to Mosgold but clocking some of the best late splits of the day. I think back out to the Mile is super positive for him and he will be strong enough to win here.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Just Like Liam
Just Like Liam has been racing in far softer company than this to be fair but he hasn’t lost or not placed runner up in all five of his runs this time in back from an 18 week spell and at double figure odds, coming in at minimum weight and with Stanley aboard from a good draw you would have to think he has the ability to make some sort of impression here.

BEST BET - #2 - Clear Choice
Clear Choice is a smart horse for the Pfieffer camp and and I think will get another win on board here after not having done so since three starts back. He was just beaten by a lethal horse in Buillt two back before going out in the Nowra Cup last time out and running an awesome race behind Floating. That is very good form and he wouldn’t have been placed here without steam in the tank still. I think he wins this.

THE DANGER - #12 - Matusalem 
Matusalem looks to be a big improver for Chris Waller and has likely been primed for this after not having raced for two months after dominating a decent field on this track over the 1800m. There’s been four winners come out of that race, his trial between runs has been sharp and I think that he will be prominent undoubtedly.

VALUE BET  - #11 - Caring Lass (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Caring Lass has heaps of upside for Matty Smith and comes into this building a bit of momentum after racing over the Mile at Canberra when smashing that field in an honest display. This race doesn’t really have much more quality than that did so I think she only needs to have the expected natural improvement to make an impact here.

BEST BET - #4 - Aristonous (BEST BET)
We have backed Neasham’s Aristonous in the past and I don’t see too much of a reason to jump off him now after resuming a fortnight back at this track when flying home and clocking some of the best late splits of the meeting when third to Zoe’s Promise. He will be much more primed to win now, likely gets a better spot in the run and with that should be flying home.

THE DANGER - #8 - State Of America 
I think that State Of America promised to be a better horse than he has been but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a solid horse for David Payne. He comes out of an 1800m race here two weeks ago where our free horse racing tips had the winner in Toesonthenose but being completely honest if State Of America wouldn’t have been checked and badly held up for a run at the 200m he would have likely won it when placing third there. That is the A1 form for this so watch closely for him.

VALUE BET - #11 - Bowery Breeze
Bowery Breeze is a horse I just can’t seem to catch so I am hoping that by having her in here this might be the day I get her. She last stepped out here over the 1400m when Collett gave her the A1 steer from the inside gate and she smashed them to the line. She’s ready for this trip now and has to be respected here, even at a big price.
