Saturday Racing Tips - Randwick Racecourse 30/09/23

It’s Epsom Stakes day at Randwick and we return for a bumper ten race card at Randwick this Saturday with a monster three group 1 races, a group two and handful of group threes for what totals out to be a $5.3 million dollar day of racing. I am more than excited for this card and have run through all the Group 1 races and picked out my best bet, next best bet and best outside chance of the day so follow me below for another huge day of racing at Randwick!

BEST BET - #1 - Tiz Invincible (NEXT BEST) 
Pretty hard to go past  the absolute star that is Tiz Invincible and he now gets the chance to pick up his group 1 win. She’s won all three of her races this time in with the last time she stepped out being in the Tea Rose over the 1400m where she shifted wide on the turn, angled clear and powered home for a strong win. She has plenty of class on her side, hard fit and ready to win.

THE DANGER - #7 - Mollynickers
Mollynickers is an improver for the Moody stable who should appreciate getting out to the Mile. She ran three weeks ago over the 1200m Atlantic Jewel where she was forced last in the run but the way that she was so strong through the line late in the piece was too good to ignore when running into fourth. She draws a good gate here where she should roll forward and still have plenty to come on at the end.

VALUE BET  - #5 - French Endeavour
Not sure that French Endeavour wins this but giving plenty of respect to him to run home a placing for Matt Smith. He won two runs back at the Hawkesbury where I thought he was going to have plenty to offer taking a huge step up to the Tea Rose and she showed up there with a powerful fourth to the aforementioned Tiz Invincible. The odds swing from either side is huge so on a numbers play it makes sense to be in her corner.

BEST BET - #10 - Kovalica (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
If Kovalica has been set up right for this I think that he rates a long way in front and can definitely win this race. He resumed at Rosehill about a month ago and the market wanted nothing to do with him which I thought, relative to how he ran, was foolish. He was completely against the pattern / shape of the race and hadn’t seen racing for a long time. He’s two from two second up, gets Joao aboard, who we all know belted the group 1 season this time last year and I think he wins.

THE DANGER - #11 - Nugget
Hard to ignore either Nugget or Maher and Eustace in the big races and his second up record of 2-2-0 in five second up runs suggests he’s going to go very well here. He resumed, having not raced since the Doncaster, in the Theo Marks stakes a few weeks ago at Rosehill where he did things tough out wide and still came on very strongly to finish just behind the placegetters. That run was fantastic for his fitness and now he shapes up very well here. Go close. 

VALUE BET  - #8 - Hope In Your Heart
Hope In your Heart is another who comes into this ready to make big improvements second up and rates very well against this field at her best. She resumed in the Tramway stakes a few weeks back where she was on the fence when they crawled which isn't really suited to her sit back and launch style as they dominated out front but she still did her thing and clocked some great late splits. She’s proven at this track / trip and gets a bit of tempo now. Should go very close

BEST BET - #14 - Just Fine  (BEST BET)
I have been waiting to see where the giant Gai / Bott stable places a really confident runner on this race day and I have found it in Just FIne. This UK import hasn’t lost a race in his two outings since coming onto Aussie shores and his last win in the Kingston Town was very impressive where he sat on the speed all run and was there to be beaten but just had too much for them. He’s short, but it’s justified.

THE DANGER - #17 - Mr Waterville  
Chris Waller and a horse on the quick back up are not something to be treated lightly as he rarely does this and Mr Waterville shapes up nicely here. He’s third up and will be hard fit and ready for the trip now coming off the back fo a run last Saturday at Rosehill where he stepped out over the 1900m and couldn’t get clear air when he tried to present to win. He has to be given another chance off the back of that and I am keen to see how he goes now.

VALUE BET - #3 - Cleveland
Kris Lees’s Cleveland has to be given another chance here after stepping out in the Newcastle Cup where Melham butchered the ride, never really asking the horse for anything and maybe that is what the stable wanted but I am really not sure. He did still find the line very nicely late in the piece but was just way too far back in the run to be a threat. He has more upside than most in this field and can speck at a big price here.
