Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 01/07/23

Racing returns to Rosehill off the back of some very exciting racing here in recent weeks and we have a great and serious ten race card with most of the races to be contested in BM72+ grades we should see some very good horses who are progressing off the midweeks that we have been following as well as some who are resuming / readying for big Winter preps. I am keen to get stuck into things and below I have outlined my best betting spots on the card, the track is rated a good 4 and the weather looks good so follow me below!

BEST BET - #1 - Semana (NEXT BEST)
I am tipping in this early race as I think that it is always a good option to try to build a bit of a bank roll on these generally very astutely placed runners from big stables and Semana fits the profile quite well for the Maher and Eustace stable. She’s four weeks between runs when she used all of her energy to try and lead at this track and trip and nearly got the money but the effort told when she just went down second very late there. She should be fine off a four week break and think it’ll take a good thing to beat her here.

THE DANGER - #3 - Mascaret
Mascaret can improve massively into this race for Chris Waller who has a thing for these French horses. She made her Aus debut two weeks ago over the 1300m at this track and ran above her price when finding the line nicely from well back in the field to stablemate Vienna Princess. She goes up in trip now which is what she’s bred for (or further) and will surely run well here.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Ringarosa
You would have to think Ringarosa is in with a shot here for Gary Portelli. She’s put together a couple of sharp wins this time in for the stable on the bounce at Newcastle and Warwick Farm, the latter of which was just two runs ago. Last time out she was never headed at Rosehill when she began badly and worked into the run but was held up again there on the straight. Can only go by how she’s been running prior and that is more than good enough to measure up here.

BEST BET - #4 - Waverider Buoy
Rosehill 1100m races are some of my favourite races to be tipping in and I like the look of the Chris Waller trained Waverider Buoy who comes into this second up after resuming off a 15 week spell at this track two weekends ago. He has placed in every run he’s had at this track but gets his best chance yet to break through and clock a win here now and should go very close with any luck.

THE DANGER - #5 - Tintookie
Tintookie is a genuinely talented horse for the Widdup stable that resumed in the same race that Waverider Buoy placed in two weeks back at this track but arguably was the most impressive runner in that race. She settled last from a wide gate there and came on so strongly at the turn to end up third, just a length behind Waverider Buoy. She likely settles much closer in this field and with the finish she displayed last time she will be very hard to hold out if she’s anywhere near them.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Euros (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I love this horse. Euros raced two weeks ago here over this distance in the same grade off a month long break and sat just off the speed from the inside gate, tried to come on late and did so to some extent but definitely lost some fitness during the break and couldn’t keep finding the line the same as the others when finishing fourth there. He has plenty of upside still and a Rosehill 1100m only aids his chances.

BEST BET - #5 - Kibou (BEST BET)
I have been waiting for this all week and the time has nearly come. This is the strongest race of the day at Rosehill and it’s going to be very hard to get away from the strongest animal of the day in Kibou. The Waterhouse/Bott trained three year old resumed three weeks ago and nearly made it a winning resumption but her fitness just told late when grabbed right on the line by the fitter / further in prep Iowna Merc. She now gets weight off her back, is better for the run and goes out in trip, maps to be on the speed and just can’t see her losing.

THE DANGER - #13 - Vienna Princess 
Vienna Princess looks set for a big preparation this time in. She ran at Randwick just over a month ago behind Mirra View and was very good late in the piece, putting the writing on the wall before coming to this track two weeks ago in Mares grade and dominantly saluting there, defying the track pattern and being dominant late. She goes well down in the weights as she strikes an honest contest but should have plenty more to offer third up you would think.

VALUE BET - #1 - Zoushack
Zoushack might need this run but historical form suggests he should be good to go here. He’s got two wins and two close placings third up which is how he comes into this. He’s three weeks between runs since racing at Randwick 1300m when he had a nice trail behind the speed, looked like he had kicked up to win at the 200m but then faded late. He goes out in trip now that he’s fitter and has a class edge over a lot of these.

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Saturday at Rosehill.

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in.
