Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 02/12/23

Racing returns to Rosehill this Rosehill for a bumper ten race card and there are some high level sprints and staying races as we have three listed races on the card with the James Squire Festival Stakes being the feature of the day in race seven. I have picked out my three best betting spots on the card and as such am keen to run through them and give you guys some good bets for tomorrow so follow me below!

BEST BET - #2 - Rustic Steel (BEST BET)
Rustic Steel is going too well to ignore here for Kris Lees and I think that the form around him reads very well for this. He ran very well first up in the Sydney Stakes before stepping out in The Hunter where he was shuffled back from the wide gate but closed off the race flying behind Coal Crusher. Out in trip now looks suitable to his run style and as long as he isn’t too far back in the run he should be prominent in the finish.

THE DANGER - #17 - Grebeni 
Grebeni has an outstanding third up record with a win in two third up runs and has been very good this time in. He won last start at Goulburn in the Goulburn Cup where he really knuckled down at the 100m to put a space on them and win well. He’s two from three at Rosehill and should be as dangerous as ever coming into this.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Finepoint
Finepoint resumed at this track in the Hot Danish where she was posted wide the trip without cover but still stuck to her task very well when finishing behind Roots. She is proven second up, gets in very light with Bayliss aboard and now is set up for a much softer run so with all that said I think she is an honest contender here.

BEST BET - #2 - Dragonstone (NEXT BEST)
Dragonstone hasn’t managed to check off the Rosehill win yet but has come very close, placing runner up in both of his runs at the track and I think now is his time. He resumed off of a 14 week break from racing last time out at Kembla where he ran in a very competitive race behind Insurrection where he took a big fitness benefit from the run and now comes into this ready to win. I am keen to be in his corner.

THE DANGER - #1 - Malkovich
Malkovich certainly has the class to take this out first up after not having been seen since the early part of the Spring where he couldn’t get going behind Sigh when finishing down the track. His two trials to ready him for a return to racing have both been strong and I think that the way he races will be suitable here but just a bit too short for me.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Fox Fighter
I think Fox Fighter is a winning chance even though the market doesn’t really have him there. I understand it seeing as he mixes his form a bit but I think his run on Big Dance Day was good enough to see him competitive here when he closed off the race very well. That was first up and he now comes back to his home course and with a much better set up. Worth a throw at the stumps.

BEST BET - #6 - Parry Sound (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
I am keen to be in the corner of Sara Ryan’s Parry Sound who has come up at a really nice price here. He last race in the Beauford at Newcastle that a few of these come out of where he came from pretty much last in the run to clock brutal closing splits in an edition of the race that was run in record time. He was quite a few weeks between runs then so now coming into this he has plenty to offer and I think he can take this out.

THE DANGER - #1 - Sky Lab
It’s hard to knock Sky Lab for Paul Perry. This horse has been an absolute beauty of late and I think his run in the Beauford shouldn’t knock him here when Collett just wasn’t on the ball enough to give him gas at the right time but the horse still showed how honest he was when finding the line with purpose to end up third. I think that if he gets working a bit earlier this time round and out to this distance now he will be tough to beat.

VALUE BET - #4 - Torrens 
Torrens is another I am happy to entertain who comes out of the Beauford at Newcastle a couple weeks back and I just think the way that he ran there is too good to ignore. Now, when you consider that was his first run in nearly six weeks and he absolutely ravaged his way to the line to split Sky Lab and Stroke Of Luck when placing second plus that he gets turned around quicker for this now, I think he’s been placed here with intent and can run home well.

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Rosehill at Rosehill.

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in
