Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 04/11/23

Racing returns to Rosehill this weekend for a massive card as the James Squire Golden Eagle highlights the day and the weekend of racing, a WFA race for a share of $10 million over the 1500m. It is supported by the 1300m Giga Kick Stakes for a share of $3 million and the Rosehill Gold Cup, a 2000m staying race for a share of $750k prize money. I have outlined my best bets for all of these races and am keen to get stuck in so follow me below!

BEST BET - #1 - Think About It (BEST BET)
It’s almost impossible to go past the star sprinter in the country in Think About It. His Everest win was unbelievable given he was right there to be run down by the challengers, particularly I Wish I win but he just found more to lift and win. He should still have upside off the back of that as it was only second up and has been set up well again this time round. Keen.

THE DANGER - #4 - Private Eye
Private Eye is going very well for Joe Pride after taking out The Shorts first up and then getting one of the toughest runs in the field in The Everest where he was forced wide no cover and honestly if he had been afforded a different run I think he could have rolled his stablemate and won The Everest. He’s clearly still going well as his trial last week indicates and he will make this a race.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Cascadian
I have been waiting to see when Cascadian was going to step out and whilst he might be moving states soon the way that he has trialled for his return has been too outstanding to ignore. It is the best I have seen him move prior to a return to racing and I think it makes sense now why he’s taken some time to get back to racing. He has the class to measure up here.

BEST BET - #16 - Amelia's Jewel
I am convinced that Amelia’s Jewel is back on track after producing her first poor start to date in her career at Caulfield last time out. She pulled up with a few issues there and Miller has since had things cleared with the Vet’s etc and now comes back to racing off a freshen up, ready to fire again and make it 10 wins in thirteen career starts.

THE DANGER - #1 - Hawaii Five Oh
Hawaii Five Oh has been working towards an assignment like this and I think is primed for a win here. His run in The Everest was full of merit when posted four wide and deep in a run that would have made it impossible for him to win where he just kept finding the line well late irrespective of it. He’s hard fit now and out to 1500m and I think he will be shorter come jump.

VALUE BET  - #18 - Legarto (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Confident that Legarto measures up here and if the last time she came over from NZ is anything to go by then she definitely measures up here. She last ran in the Matamata Cup where she was outstanding in winning that race, not giving anything a chance to get into it. She does generally take a bit to get warm so I think 1500m is suitable as she will be thundering home late.

BEST BET - #6 - Canberra Legend (NEXT BEST)
Market is giving a hell of a lot of respect to Canberra Legend despite the wide gate he will have to deal with and I think it’s for good reason. The stable took out the St Leger with Land Legend and they bring this UK stayer over to repeat history now. I think he has been smartly placed here as he runs in a Handicap instead of stepping out in the WFA they were considering last weekend. He will be tough to beat here and hasn’t been placed without careful consideration.

THE DANGER - #1 - No Compromise
No Compromise will relish getting out to the 2000m after running in the Craven Plate last Saturday where he really wasn’t suited by the way the race was run and never got a chance to build into it so I think he has to be given another look off the back of that. Nash gets the booking which is very positive and other than the favourite there isn’t too much strong competition in this.

VALUE BET - #9 - Stroke Of Luck
Stroke Of Luck looks like he can definitely go on with the winning form. He ran at Randwick two weeks back and got the right in transit where he was able to make good use of it and be far too strong late for a lethal win. That was only his second up effort so he comes into this with plenty of upside and rates highly here.

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Saturday at Rosehill.

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in
