Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 05/08/23

Here we go! Spring racing and the Group 1 racing season unofficially kicks off this Saturday with a huge ten race meeting that sees some of the premier stables in the country bringing forth their best runners who look to start huge Spring preps and I personally couldn’t be more excited for what is to come. The track conditions are a good 4, rail is in true position and our feature of the day, the Listed Toyota Forklifts Missile Stakes will see some of the best G1 horses in the country resume so follow me below as I outline the day!

Rosehill R3 - Schweppes (Bm78) (2400m)

Selections:
#5 - Aristonous (NEXT BEST) - $2.05
#4 - So United - $4.20
#3 - Kirkeby - $6.50
#6 - Verona - $7.00

BEST BET - #5 - Aristonous (NEXT BEST)
First bet of the card and I can’t believe I am tipping in the staying race to kick things off but I do think that Aristonous likely puts these away easily and moves onto  bigger things. Last time out he raced at Caulfield over the 2000m where he was drawn to be off the track and he was so I was never counting that effort when he still found the line with purpose to finish midfield. The win before over the mile was ever so sharp and he will be ready for this extra trip now. Top top chance.

THE DANGER - #4 - So United
The Bott / Waterhouse stable can hardly put a foot wrong at the moment and So United poses the main danger to the favourite in this race for the stable. He had a run at this track / trip when stepping out to race last time out and he was honest as ever in defeat when sitting on the speed and boxing along, still having a solid kick in the straight but bumped into a smart one and beat all but Kirkeby. He should be holding his form, is hard fit and can go one better here.

VALUE BET  - #6 - Verona
Verona should be competitive here now at just about peak fitness. She is three weeks between runs off the back of an 1800m Randwick race where she was forced back in the run but I really liked the way she finished the race off when finding plenty in the straight but being held up at a crucial stage and not being able to come on. That was only second up and I think she has more upside than most in this field. Keen to see how she goes.

Rosehill R4 - Vale John Duggan (Bm72) (1400m)

Selections:
#3 - Kangaroo Court (BEST BET) - $4.00
#4 - Tashi - $6.00
#1 - Hollywood Hero - $11.00
#5 - Ivan's Hero - $8.00

BEST BET - #3 - Kangaroo  Court (BEST BET)
I took an early look at Kangaroo Court earlier this week in one of my racing news articles and now as race day approaches I am pretty keen on the Waterhouse / Bott products prospects to make it two from two here. He was eased in betting when racing at this track and trip two weeks ago and he did look to be out of the race for a long way there but when Clark asked for the effort he weaved a path and powered away from them for a very solid win that suggests he had plenty in hand for them. He’s now got two wins and a close second placing this prep and doesn’t meet a particularly tougher field, Clark stays on, think he’s on for another win.

THE DANGER - #4 - Tashi
Tashi is a Peter and Paul Snowden horse who is very genuine and I think is going to be at his peak here fourth up off the back of a bunch of close placings in his last few runs and meets a beatable field now. Two back he ran over the 1200m at Warwick Farm where he beat all but a smart one in Givara who has gone on to win again and then was three weeks between runs when he raced here over the 1200m two weeks ago and had to overcome a tough wide run to have a kick in the straight when his condition / wide run just told late and he was overpowered by the Quinella. Hard fit now, maps for a more economical run in transit and I think he has what it takes to beat this lot.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Hollywood Hero
Hollywood Hero is going too well to ignore for Bjorn Baker and has plenty of upside to offer coming into this only third up. He resumed at Randwick a few weeks ago when the market said he’d need the run and he did and then was three weeks between runs when he raced at Wyong mid last month where he was ridden more patiently and had a massive kick in the straight. He looks to have quite a dynamic run style, heaps of upside still and the stable goes very well at this course. Genuine winning threat.

ROSEHILL R8 - Toyota Forklifts Missile Stakes (1200m)

Selections:
#11 - I Am Me - $3.70
#4 - Big Parade - $3.00
#1 - Golden Mile - $7.50
#9 - Deepour (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $23.00

BEST BET - #11 - I Am Me
I was pretty keen on the prospects of UCalledit for Kris Lees in this race who smartly had placed the horse against these returning group 1 horses in the hopes that his fitness would carry him a long way but with him out the race I think that it is going to be pretty hard to get past what looks to be on of the premier sprinters in the country in I Am Me for Maher and Eustace. The riveting Group 1 winner has been trialling outstandingly for her return and she loves this course, with both of her wins here being some of the more impressive runs I saw last season and we all are wondering if she’s moving towards The Everest. A win here would be a nice way to kick things off.

THE DANGER - #4 - Big Parade
4 - Big Parade

VALUE BET - #9 - Deepour (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
We took a look at what trainer Adam Campton had to say about Deepour’s placement in this race earlier this week and he is employing the strategy of bringing in a hard fit, in form runner against the resuming runners who he knows might have more class than him and I think that Deepour is a genuine winning chance here. We were on him last time out when he was completely luckless last weekend and still was incredibly eye-catching when running home into third. He’s never backed up before and Campton insisted he wouldn’t go through with it if Deepour didn’t look rearing to go, so he clearly is and I think his fitness / racing edge might just see him knock these off.

Jockey Of The Day – Brenton Avdulla

Avdulla has found great form this year with a near 50% place rate and near 20% strike rate. He has been super consistent in NSW and that has been recognised to a large extent by the bookings that he has been getting. He gets a top selection of rides for some prominent stables such as James Cummings and Chris Waller and I think he is a top shot to pick up at least one win on Saturday at Rosehill.

R2 - #2 - Cylinder - $3.80
R5 - #12 - Kokoro  - $7.00
R6 - #6 - Roots - $7.50
R8 - #5 - Zou Tiger - $9.50
R9 - #3 - Welwal  - $13.00

Multi Tips For Rosehill

Whilst it is scary to tip in some of the bigger field races I think that with it being early in the season and a lot of runners being on resumption that there are some clear top picks in each field and as such I have combined my best runners of the day into a place multi. Whilst it might not be the same level of value we generally get I think that it is a worthwhile bet and has a good chance of coming in.

Best Promotions for Rosehill Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
