Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 18/03/22

Saturday racing returns to Rosehill for Golden Slipper day and wow what a privilege it is to be back in the depths of the NSW Autumn carnival. There are a massive five group one races that are supported by a further three group one races with the feature of the day being the LONGINES GOLDEN SLIPPER, a 1100m sprint race for a share of a whopping five million dollars prize money. The track is rated a good 4, weather is meant to be fine and the rail is in true position.

Rosehill R2 - KIA N E MANION CUP (G3) (2400m)

Selections:
#1 - Sir Lucan  - $4.00
#4 - Glory Daze  - $2.80
#3 - High Emocean (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $9.00
#5 - Almania - $5.00

BEST BET - #1 - Sir Lucan  - (BEST BET)
Sir Lucan didn’t do anything wrong first up and I expect him to be improving sharply here. The stable displayed an awesome effort in readying Sir Lucan when he fired first up at Randwick in the City Stakes over the 2000m a fortnight ago where he led throughout and was still dominant to the line. Fitter now, out to the 2400m and I don’t see him dropping off now.

THE DANGER - #4 - Glory Daze
Glory Daze is a true staying horse and an up and comer for the Maher and Eustace stable. He is chasing a hat-trick coming into this after picking up wins at both Sandown and Randwick on the trot already. In both of these he’s exhibited a similar run style, being a bit one paced before being asked to pick it up and in both he has been strong when asked for it and very impressive in winning. He still has a fair bit of upside in my eyes and is in form already, Maher and Eustace always have to be respected on their staying prospects.

VALUE BET  - #3 - High Emocean (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
High Emocean is another proven stayer for the Maher and Eustace camp that comes into this second up and off the back of a successful last campaign, winning the Bendigo cup and two other stakes races at Flemington. He was ridden quietly at his first outing this campaign late last month at Sandown over the 2100m but the stable knows what they are doing with stayers and they clearly thought he needed the run, stewards post-race comments suggest the same. Expect him to improve sharply into this and with Allen aboard they can run a race.

Rosehill R4 - SKY RACING ROSEHILL GUINEAS (G1) (2000m)

Selections:
#5 - Pericles (BEST BET) - $2.60
#2 - Elliptical - $4.00
#4 - Matcha Latte - $9.50
#3 - Lindermann - $6.00

BEST BET - #5 - Pericles - (NEXT BEST)
Pericles might just have the most class in this strong field. This campaign he’s had two runs at Sandown and has been outstanding in both, he was a close fourth in the Autumn stakes when on resumption and then stepped out to the 1800m in the Autumn Classic where he seemed to relish that step up and whilst he didn’t beat the best field he put lengths on them. This prep has been all about this race and you can expect James Cummings, who can’t put a foot wrong currently, to produce something spectacular in this race.

THE DANGER - #2 - Elliptical
I am convinced the the Freedman’s have been gearing Elliptical up for this race third up now after the most impressive win I have seen this season when first up in the CS Hayes stakes, he did it tough out wide all run there and still had something on that lot to claim Holymanz late and go over. He then raced in the Australian Guineas a couple weeks back but was asked for too much too early and was swamped late in a race that didn’t suit his map at all. He goes out from the mile to the 2000m now, has had some time to be prepped for this, knows that winning feeling already this prep and they draw barrier one which is great for his run style, I expect a bold showing.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Matcha Latte
I backed Matcha Latte last time out in the Randwick Guineas and am happy to give him another chance again here. He looks like a far better horse when given some room and he gets that at Rosehill. In the Guineas he had excuses, being winched between runners on the inside of the track. He’s hard fit, has the runs on board and maps to get every chance in the small field and big track. I think he is going a lot better than it reads on paper and is a top chance to take this out.

ROSEHILL R6 - CHANDON (BM100) (1400m)

Selections:
#2 - Mo’Unga (NEXT BEST)- $4.20
#1 - Gold Trip - $3.90
#8 - Hinged  - $4.80
#6 - El Bodegon - $13.00

BEST BET - #2 - Mo’Unga (NEXT BEST)
Mo’Unga has to go on top for me here. The Annabel Neasham trained runner has been soaring and generally always does. He looks to relish the step up to 2000m off the back of his run in the Chipping Norton where he sat on the speed throughout and worked hard all run but couldn’t best the top horse in the country, Anamoe when third in that field. He’s been racing for longer and gets it now and the 1600m+ Anamoe form is just about the best form to have around yourself in this country. Big chance.

THE DANGER - #1 - Gold Trip
Gold Trip has been far better than I expected this preparation. He’s last year's Melbourne Cup winner who resumed in the Peter Young Stakes at Sandown and wow he was outstanding there when running through a clump of them and finding the line just a touch too late to land second to Steinem. It looks like the additional 200m here can only aid his cause and he has the class edge on these. Wouldn’t surprise me if he made this look easy.

VALUE BET - #6 - El Bodegon
El Bodegon is make or break here. You can make a case for him in the COX plate last spring that if he jumped close he would have run a much better race but in saying that his two runs back this prep leading into this have been pretty average, however both times have been against the likes of Anamoe and co. With a clean jump he should find the spot he loves best on the speed and he is good enough at his best to take this out.

Jockey Of The Day – James Mcdonald

Jmac hasn’t been firing the same way of late but that’s simply because the bar he sets for himself is astronomically high. He thrives under the pressure of the Group racing and subsequently has a stack of rides booked for Saturday’s racing at Rosehill, look for him to be picking up a few winners throughout the card.

Multi Tips For Rosehill

I think that we have to tread lightly with a multi on such a competitive day of racing with so many of these horses having been geared for the races on this card. As such, I have given favour to those horses who have drawn good gates, are well weighted and who have top jockeys on as these factors can be all the advantage you need for a win in the circumstances. Best Promotions for Rosehill Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
