Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 20/05/23

Metro Grade racing continues at Rosehill for Lord Mayor Stakes day and we have a packed ten race with card with the majority of races being in strong Benchmark grade with the lone Stakes race on the card being the Lord Mayors Cup, run over 2000m for a share of $160k prize money. It should make for a good day of racing at Rosehill with a bunch of in form NSW horses going around, follow me below for my best bets on the card!

Rosehill R2 - Midway (Bm72) (1400m)

Selections:
#1 - Kyeema (BEST BET) - $5.00
#3 - Mayrose - $5.50
#13 - Diamond Diesel - $5.50
#11 - Uzziah - $11.00

BEST BET - #1 - Kyeema (BEST BET)
Kyeema is a UK import for Sara Ryan who debuted in Aus a few weeks ago, after having drawn out wide and settling far back in the run he closed off very very well, powering home at Rosehill to finish a close fourth place. That run came in the mud at Rosehill to some noted wet trackers. He goes out another 200m in trip now, stays at the course and gets on top of the ground now, I like his prospects.

THE DANGER - #3 - Mayrose
Mayrose has been running in the wet and running fantastically at that. He pulled off a big upset win two back at this track in the Heavy going over this distance when the split came at the 300m and he really put in a shift to pull away from the field there. Then last time out in a big field at Rosehill in the mud again he came from well back in a big field to motor up and find the front but was just no match for the quinella there when third to two very progressive/strong types. He appears to be the main threat in this field.

VALUE BET  - #13 - Diamond Diesel
Diamond Diesel has placed in three from three for Adam Duggan this campaign and has been honest as ever, having some excuses in a couple of those runs. He got very close when returning to the races at Newcastle a few weeks ago and has since had a couple runs, the latest at Gosford over the 1200m where he was held up a few times and when finally got clear air he found the line very well to run second. Gets onto a bigger track now, an extra 200m is positive and he will be as fit as he gets now.

Rosehill R5 - The Agency Real Estate (Bm72) (2000m)

Selections:
#4 - Starianne (NEXT BEST) - $4.20
#2- Tradition - $3.40
#8 - Four O'clock Knock - $21.00
#6 - Domingo - $6.00

BEST BET - #4 - Starianne (NEXT BEST)
I am very keen on the prospects of the Busuttin/Young trained Starianne who has been given about a month break since the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville where she set three wide with cover in aout 11th before peeling out even wider and commencing a bold run at the 800m to end up fourth there in a great effort for G1 company. She should be a lot more prominent in the run now from the softer draw and meets much softer competition now.

THE DANGER - #2 - Tradition
Tradition is a progressive horse for Cummings, who himself is absolutely flying and has to be respected with his entrants into any big race. Tradition is third up now from a spell and should be peaking now after running at Canterbury two weeks ago where he jumped awkwardly and got bumped around a bit but recovered well and improved throughout the run to end up in the minors. Out to the bigger track now and up to 2000m should see him make big improvements.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Four O'clock Knock
Four O’clock Knock is one of the most interesting runners in the race for Bjorn Baker. The three year old broke maiden last time out at Mudgee over this distance when producing a very impressive win there, having stayed well back in the field on the inside he joined the leader at the 200m and fought hard to the line to win there. He didn’t beat much off there but the splits read very well and had been working up to this distance prior. Should be fitter and better for the experience at the distance and can go on with it now.

ROSEHILL R9 - Lord Mayors Cup (2000m)

Selections:
#13 - Thalassophile  - $6.50
#5 - Lord Ardmore - $6.50
#10 - Navajo Peak  - $5.50
#2 - Desert Icon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $14.00

BEST BET - #13 - Thalassophile
I have enjoyed following Thalassophile this preparation for Chris Waller, it seems as though she has really come into her own this time in and gets in very well at the weights for this assignment. She won in the Aspiration at Randwick before a close second placing at Rosehill in the Epona stakes before being sent away for a 2 month let up. She resumed at Gosford a few weeks ago and likely just needed that run when finishing behind Palmetto. She will be ready for this second up from the short break and Gibbons takes the ride which is a bonus.

THE DANGER - #5 - Lord Ardmore
Chris Waller puts forward a few in this race but giving the most chance to Lord Ardmore who comes into this off the back of a run in the Gosford Cup where he unfortunately was on the worst part of the track and also pulled up with some nasal bleeding post race and was still honest there. He’s now back onto home turf here at Rosehill and has the 2000m+ runs under his belt. Top chance now.

VALUE BET - #2 - Desert Icon (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
The other Waller runner I really like the look of is Desert Icon who ran in the Hawkesbury Cup when resuming a few weeks ago and that run was incredible when he just chased all start over the mile there to come second to stablemate New Mandate who had been primed for that race. His last run in the Gosford Cup can be forgiven when he just didn’t seem to have his edge then, also losing some plates in the run. If he returns third up now in the same manner he resumed he will be in the finish, I am confident.

Jockey Of The Day – James Mcdonald

Jmac hasn’t been firing the same way of late but that’s simply because the bar he sets for himself is astronomically high. He thrives under the pressure of the Group racing and subsequently has a stack of rides booked for Saturday’s racing at Rosehill, look for him to be picking up a few winners throughout the card.

Multi Tips For Rosehill

I think that we have to tread lightly with a multi on such a competitive day of racing with so many of these horses having been geared for the races on this card. As such, I have given favour to those horses who have drawn good gates, are well weighted and who have top jockeys on as these factors can be all the advantage you need for a win in the circumstances. Best Promotions for Rosehill Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
