Saturday Racing Tips - Rosehill Racecourse 28/01/23

Saturday racing returns to Rosehill for a solid metro meeting to end off January with ten races on the card, two of which are group three races and there is the feature group two FURPHY EXPRESSWAY STAKES for a share of $250k prize. The track is rated to be a soft 5 and as long as we don’t see too much rain today in NSW I expect it to remain in this range.

BEST BET - #7 - Wineglass Bay - (BEST BET)
Wineglass Bay races for Waller as a UK import after making his Aus debut a few weeks ago. He was pretty one paced there but I liked what I saw when he was asked for a bit of effort he did power home to the line and landed up a close third behind the smart Danish prince. He is a progressive import and my only query is he may want it longer than this.

THE DANGER - #2 - Cosmic Minerva 
Cosmic Minerva comes into this third up from a spell and has been firing in the first two runs. He was a dominant winner first up at Gosford and then moved up to this track, racing in better company and working home super strongly to end up second to the in-form Ringmaster. He looks like he will relish the rise in trip and this company doesn’t look too strong.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Resonator (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Resonator looks like a good outside chance coming into this hard fit fourth up now and showed a good kick late in the piece two back at Randwick when racing in stronger company than this. The splits read really well leading into this and he continues to improve. With some luck I can see him taking this out.

BEST BET - #9 - Perfect Proposal (BEST BET)
Perfect Proposal resumes here off a near five month spell after making her debut on a bogged down Randwick track and looking fantastic, going hard and fast all run and just going down to what looks to be a really good horse in Platinum Jubilee. He has had two soft trials to prepare him for this and I think that he is genuine, either way we will find out.

THE DANGER - #11 - Steel City 
Steel City is definitely talented. She was kept safe when a short priced favourite on debut at this track two weeks ago. When she was in that run she was on the speed and I thought she was going to take out the favourite but she couldn’t get past the smart Red Resistance who was an all the way winner. The stable knows what they are doing with the Juveniles and I think she is a top shot to go over again.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Just Glamorous 
Just Glamorous was being geared up for the Magic Millions but the stable decided to keep her on Ice for the Autumn carnival now. She is a well bed filly that did a bit wrong on debut at Warwick Farm, settling too far back in the field but still powered home late behind her stablemate Royal Entrance. She is fitter now and goes out to 1100m and I think she must be given another chance here.

BEST BET - #9 - Golden Mile (NEXT BEST)
Golden mile is a serious colt racing for the ever prominent Cummings stable and is definitely a horse to follow, looking like he will follow in the footsteps of stablemate Anamoe. Golden Mile looks to be a 1600m horse so 1200m first up looks good and the stable certainly knows what they are doing so must be trusted. He’s got runs on the board and the trial work looks very good. I think he could put on a spectacle.

THE DANGER - #4 - Forbidden Love
Forbidden love definitely has talent, there’s no query there. She was one of the best mares in the country at the beginning of last year but her Autumn prep was near abysmal. She looked to be back though when trialling at Warwick and going like a rocket there. If she shows up, she will take this out.

VALUE BET - #3 - Pizarro 
Pizarro is one who can’t be counted out. He returned to the races here a couple weeks ago off a spell when looking fantastic as an odds on favourite over the 1200m and really should have won there but only got clear running inside the last 100m and managed to scrape into the placings with what he was given. He draws well, is fitter now and is proven second up.

Tim Clark is one of the top jockeys in NSW and in the country.
