Sandown R1 - GRAINSHAKER VODKA FERNHILL (1600m)

Selections:
#6 - Foxicon (BEST BET) - $2.45
#8 - Party For One - $3.40
#3 - Duchess Of Dorset - $8.00
#4 - Galgani - $15.00

BEST BET - #6 - Foxicon (BEST BET)
Foxicon may be untested at 1200m, but she possesses the brilliance factor and could enjoy a favorable run on speed. Her last few runs have been at The Valley over 955m, with her latest outing on William Reid Night seeing her finish second to Unflinching - a quick sprinter who would be a strong favorite against these rivals. If she secures a good run on speed, she'll be tough to beat.

THE DANGER - #8 - Party For One
Party For one is a former Joe Pride trainee, she's set to make her debut for the Price/Kent stable. In her last race at Rosehill on Feb 18, she came from the back of the field to finish third to Parisal without threatening. She had a positive jumpout at Cranbourne recently, showing good movement. With the potential to be a good horse, a change of scenery might be what she needs to bring the talent to the forefront.

VALUE BET  - #4 - Galgani
Galgani is a mare trained by Nikki Burke, who is returning after a break. Her last race was on Caulfield Cup Day, where she finished out of contention in the Alinghi, her only start of the prep, finishing just under six lengths behind A Very Fine Red. However, she's had three jumpouts to prepare for her comeback so there’s clearly intent for a big fresh run.

Sandown R3 - E THURGOOD REDOUTE'S CHOICE (1200m)

Selections:
#1 - I Am Unstoppable (NEXT BEST) - $2.25
#4 - Lovazou - $3.60
#5 - Waimarie (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $15.00
#2 - Shoresy - $8.00

BEST BET - #1 - I Am Unstoppable - (NEXT BEST)
I Am Unstoppable, a colt by Lloyd Kennewell looks like he has a huge motor under the hood. He trialled well before debuting two weeks ago at the Morphettville Parks track, where he settled nicely behind the speed before breaking away impressively to win with more in hand. He seems to have good racing manners and 1200m should be no issue for him.

THE DANGER - #4 - Lovazou
Lovazou, a filly, is expected to be a strong contender. She made her debut a fortnight on the Flemington Straight over the 1200m and while she didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight, she finally got a gap late and found the line really well to finish second to the fitter/in form Bossy Nic. She should naturally improve second up from that run and can easily go on with it now.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Waimarie (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Waimarie is a good filly for the Busuttin and Young stable who will get in front of them and be the one they have to run down. She led throughout to win on debut at Ballarat over 1100m and looked to go through her gears nicely there. She was there to be run down but she found something more when pressured to keep the field at bay. She’s free running and the extra 100m looks suitable, the ground she gets is a bit of a query but the price has factored that in.

Sandown R7 - LADBROKES VICTORIA HANDICAP (G3) (1400m)

Selections:
#2 - Ayrton (NEXT BEST) - $6.00
#5 - Lady Of Honour - $13.00
#7 - Cardinal Gem - $4.40
#3 - Buffalo River - $6.00

BEST BET - #2 - Ayrton (NEXT BEST)
Ayrton is a promising horse for the Price and Kent stable who finished in the middle of the pack when resuming at Flemington. He gets the blinkers on for this, has drawn to dictate things and won't have to do much work. When resuming in the Shaftesbury Avenue (G3) over 1400m at Flemington he settled third on the turn and chased steadily but just faded late, however was far from disgraced there, receiving a post race rating of 103 which reads well relative to this field. Should improve sharply and the stable rarely places their runners poorly.

THE DANGER - #7 - Cardinal Gem
Third-up from a spell, Cardinal Gem should be approaching peak fitness and ready to produce his best. After a poor ride first-up where they let him get far too back in the field the tactics were changed for his second up run at Flemington where he was ridden with more intent at Flemington, sitting on the speed and giving an honest kick but not being able to get one over the eventual winner. He’ll be much better for that run and doesn’t need to improve too much off that to be in the finish.

VALUE BET - #5 - Lady Of Honour
Lady of Honour, trained by Team Hayes, was unlucky on her return in the Abell Stakes a few weeks ago when getting checked badly at an already very tricky Moonee Valley track and finishing deeper in the field. She should be fitter for that outing and better suited to the 1400m distance here and out to a wide track. Her form prior reads very well for this and she won second up last campaign, follow.

Jockey Of The Day – Jye Mcniel

Jye has won numerous black type races, including the 2020 Melbourne Cup aboard Twilight Payment. McNeil has also won the Victoria Racing Club's Champion Jockey Award in two consecutive seasons (2019/20 and 2020/21), further cementing his status as one of the best jockeys in Victoria. He excels on these big race days, gets a lengthy booking of rides and I think he’s a top chance to take out the TAB jockey challenge at Sandown this weekend.

Multi Tips For Sandown Racecourse

When it comes to making multi bets at Sandown, there are a few things to keep in mind to help increase your chances of success. One important factor to consider is the track bias. Sandown is known to have a bias towards horses that are positioned closer to the rail. This means that horses drawn on the inside tend to perform better than those drawn towards the outside. I have considered this in my Multi as well as where horses have drawn in their respective preps etc. Follow me below for a fun bet to track over race day.

Best Promotions for Sandown Racecourse

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Wednesday's racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
