Saturday Racing Tips - Sunshine Coast Racecourse 27/01/24

Racing comes back to the Sunshine Coast racecourse for a bumper 10 race card with the Coastline BMW Sunshine Coast Cup being the feature of the day, a 1400m race in race eight for a share of $160k prize money. The card is supported by a bunch of other strong races so with all things considered follow me below for my best betting spots!

BEST BET - #1 - Lead Me On (BEST BET)
Lead Me On looks like a nice bet to kick off the day’s punting tomorrow at the Sunshine Coast. He made his debut for Chris Anderson a couple weeks back at the Gold Coast where he kicked very strongly to the line from out front to win well. He should have plenty more to offer here but even that effort would be good enough to take this out. Go well.

THE DANGER - #2 - El Morzillo
Kelly Schweida’s El Morzillo should be prominent at some point in the run tomorrow at the very least. He’s had just the one run to kick the career off and comes back to racing here off of a very nice trial win at Doomben recently. The debut was also very sharp at Eagle Farm last month and with Graham on he will be strong here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Dream Smart 
Dream Smart has the advantage over a few of these in terms of having the runs on board and can hit hard here. He comes into this on the quick turnaround after racing over the 1200m at Eagle Farm last time out where he powered home once he got clear air to give a bold sight and only be run down late by one smart horse. He rates very highly here and will be sharp undoubtedly.

BEST BET - #7 - Party Spirit
I have been burnt backing horses like this before in Queensland but I do think that Party Spirit will be very strong coming back in trip after racing over the 1200m at the Magic Million Country Cup lsat time out where she just tired late behind Zoumeteor. She now comes back to the 1000m with hard fitness and having run well in some tough company, I think all things considered she goes well here.

THE DANGER - #6 - Island Magic
Island Magic is a hard horse to catch but on his day he is very strong and the market seems to be backing him like that day is tomorrow. He last ran over the 1110m at Doomben where she was too far back to be a winning threat but still chased very well to finish nicely. She will be fitter here and back to the 1000m she only runs well IMO.

VALUE BET  - #10 - Dirty Dancing (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
I understand that this is a bit of step up in competition for Dirty Dancing but you would have to think the market is disrespecting him a bit coming into this at around $14.00 odds and chasing a hat trick here. His last two runs and wins have come at this track and trip and he seems to be building himself into somewhat of a specialist here. I think the quote is too high and he is definite overs here.

It’s no secret how much I love Kris Lees’ Kincloch who once again looks set for another flying prep. He came back to racing off of a spell at Randwick three weeks ago where he let them get out in front before absolutely jetting home in the straight to win extremely well given he was first up. He’s now fitter, gets an extra 200m in trip and generally improves sharply second up so I think all things considered he takes this out.

THE DANGER - #13 - Hollywood North
Hollywood North comes into this chasing a hat trick for Stephanie Kendrick and whilst this is a bit of step up in competition, she gets in at limit weight here with Harley aboard and the way she’s run in her past two has been very solid. After winning two back she last stepped out at Doomben over the 1350m where she came from just behind the leaders to jet away in the straight and win well again and now comes here hard fit, flying and can surprise these.

VALUE BET - #1 - Master Jamie
Master Jamie might not have what it takes to win this but I certainly think he’s at least worth a look for the placings / exotics. He last raced in the King of the Mountain at Toowoomba where he just kept finding the line in a strong effort behind Rothfire and now with the two 1200m runs under the belt coming into this assignment on the bigger track and with the extra few hundred meters I think he only runs well here.
