Saturday Racing Tips - Sunshine Coast Racecourse 28/01/23

Racing continues into the last week of January at Sunshine Coast and it has been a great month of the Brisbane Summer Carnival here with a strong Nine race card with the Sunshine Coast Cup as the feature of the day over 1400m. We can expect another day of fine weather and the track is expected to be a good 4 and I think it will remain in that range. The rail is in true position.

BEST BET - #1 - Mishani Raider (NEXT BEST)
Mishani Raider races for the prominent Ross stable and is a well bred horse who is shooting for a win. He is second up here off a short 11 week spell. First up, he ran a slow second of five being outrun by The Player there, getting a bit unlucky in the run but before then had still been racing well with three consecutive placings. Draws inside and gets Jimmy Orman on are two ticks.

THE DANGER - #3 - Trifling
Trifling is also shooting for a win and looked to have made the necessary improvements off her last run. She was found a place to sit last run instead of being ridden forward as previous and then had a good kick and drove to the line well placing second to Mishani Royale. I think 1200 should be good now with the runs on board and she’ll be fit for this.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Adelad
Adelad is in with a decent shot here and I think he is a 1600-1800m? horse so first up at 1200m looks good here. He was very good at Toowoomba in the Pat O’Shea late, placing second to the smart Bedaub. He is trained on typically firmer ground and the trial was okay but good enough. His last 200/300m might see him beat these.

BEST BET - #1 - Steady Ready- (NEXT BEST)
Steady Ready just loves short sprints and he thrives on them. Ceteris parabus in this race he wins. Last time out at Toowoomba he tried to lead but landed up sitting on the speed out wide and still gave a good kick but couldn’t finish off a very bold run. His stablemate Yellow Brick won, looks to be a progressive horse and I think he should fend this field off.

THE DANGER - #5 - Mouette
Mouette is another short course specialist and she resumes on Saturday from a decent spell. She tried to lead them in her last run at the end of September but had to do it tough out wide and got run down in the last 200m by some good horses. She’s had some soft trials to lead her into this and does her best work at this track and fresh.  

VALUE BET  - #2 - Hard To Say (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I don’t often like horses dropping back in distance but with Hard To Say it makes him hard to beat. He was behind the prominent Junqueira a few weeks back at the Gold Coast but just battled there in a really good race. This is well within his grasp and he can bounce back here.

BEST BET - #2 - Affogato Girl (BEST BET) 
Backing that Affogato Girl has improved enough to take this out and she meets a beatable field as well. She looked good in defeat when second two runs back at Eagle Farm and then moved onto this track and this distance three weeks ago, she seemed to relish that step up and she won dominantly there. She’s taken a little break since then but can go on with it here.

THE DANGER - #3 - The Vowels
I have to respect the Edmonds camp with the Vowels. All you can do is win and The Vowels has done just that in his last two over the 1350m at Ipswich and before that at this track, was looking for a bigger last time out and gets that again here as well as the natural step out to 1600m.

VALUE BET - #1 - Mishani Spartan 
Mishani Spartan didn’t do much last start when third up at the Gold Coast over the 1800m but she did it tough there out wide and didn’t look suited to the step up in trip. Was very good before then with a first up win and a subsequent placing in tougher company. She can take this out at her best.
