Selections:
#4 - Capital Asset - $5.00
#9 - Atlantic Ocean - $3.20
#3 - Iknowastar (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $12.00
#11 - Whinchat - $8.00
BEST BET - #4 - Capital Asset
Competitive field here but I think a lot of things are going the way for Capital Asset for the Snowden’s and at around $5.00 I think he is worth throwing a bit on. He resumed off of an 18 week spell at the midweeks at Kensington where he began very awkwardly but chased hard all run, finishing very strongly through the line in fifth behind Custodian. He’s won one from two second up runs, maps to have every chance from the soft draw and gets a big jockey upgrade to Josh Parr now.
THE DANGER - #9 - Atlantic Ocean
No denying that the Waller / Jmac combination under Atlantic Ocean will be a threat in this field. He’s had two runs back from a long spell this time in and should be nearing his peak here. The first came over the 1200m at Randwick in Saturday company where it was really just a fitness run for him before really clocking up two weeks ago at the same track at the midweeks over the 1100m where struck interference at the start and was taken back but came on so strongly to beat all but the winner and now looks very well placed getting back out to 1200m third up and ready to win.
VALUE BET - #3 - Iknowastar (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Iknowastar is an awesome horse for Bjorn Baker and I think that despite his pretty poor fresh record, the stable seems to have him seriously tuned up for start one of the campaign here. Last campaign he put together four wins in a row on the bounce before tackling a tough race at Rosehill where he produced an end of prep run and was never headed. Now, he’s had a 20 week spell and has had two 900m trials at ROsehill and then this track where he has run them with real intent and clocked some very very quick times. The stable seems to have him going better than he ever has and can take this out first up at a good price.
