Wednesday Racing Tips - Doomben Racecourse 11/15/23

Racing comes back to Doomben for what has shaped up to be a great ten race card that features some of the more prominent Queensland and NSW stables’ runners who look to be on their ways towards nice preps during the Spring and there does look to be some very nice betting spots on the card. I am keen to get straight into things and have outlined my best betting spots on the card below.

BEST BET - #3 - Impendor (BEST BET)
I think that Impendor looks like a good bet in the early set of maiden races that we have on this card for the Dunn stable. He took awhile to make his racing debut before stepping out at Eagle Farm a couple weeks back and being held up for a run from deep in the field but wow when he got clear air the way he powered home to almost win that race when into second was very impressive. He will be closer in the run now and I think he wins this.

THE DANGER - #4 - Lion's Pride
Lion’s Pride looks like quite a sharp horse for the Munce stable who rates highly here. He has had two runs back from a spell and now should be approaching his peak third up here after running a very game placing last start at the Sunshine Coast where he worked into his assignment well. Well placed.

VALUE BET  - #2 - Epic Flash
Epic Flash has had just the one run for the Edmonds camp but seems to be quite sharp off the back of the stable switch. He stepped out over this distance at Ipswich a couple weeks back where he jumped awkwardly and was forced to endure a tough wide run where he still found enough to hit the front and only go down into second place late. Should be sharp off the back of that now.

BEST BET - #13 - Thankful Heart (NEXT BEST)
I think that Annabel Neasham’s Thankful Heart shapes up very well here to get another win on board after already enjoying a successful campaign thus far with two wins and a bunch of placings in six outings. She last raced at this track but can be forgiven when she was forced out wide in a tough on pace affair and faded out of things late there but has been flying before then and will get her chance again here

THE DANGER - #6 - Evocator
Hard to knock Evocator other than the big weight he takes on but the way he has been racing suggests he will measure up competitively here. He won when resuming and having his first start for the stable and has since produced two sharp efforts, the most recent of which being a runner up placing at Eagle Farm where he overcame a tough run to place second in a great effort. Should be on the ball here, just a bit short for me.

VALUE BET  - #12 - Casrock
Kelly Schweida and Cejay Graham are a proven combination here and they combine under Casrock who gets into this very light and trim for this assignment and has already picked up a sharp win this campaign so i think she can get another on board now. Last time out she raced in Saturday grade here when just being overrun late by some class horses and now comes back to the midweeks and should be prominent here.

BEST BET - #2 - John Rambo
John Rambo is first up here for Tony Gollan and ran very well when he was first up in his only campaign last time out so I think off the back of a recent trial where he was moving along quite nicely, albeit ridden quietly, I think that he should go well here. He’s already won one and placed runner up in two of his four career starts so I think the talent is there undoubtedly and regardless of what happens he should be strong here.

THE DANGER - #4 - Flying Mikki 
All you can do is win and that is what Flying Mikki has done in her lone career start thus far when stepping out at this track and trip in August and sitting two wide the trip before taking over at the 200m and never being in doubt from there in a very impressive debut. She’s had heaps of trials to lead her back into racing and I think she has been placed here with some real intent so go close.

VALUE BET - #8 - The Lions' Gate (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
The Lions’ Gate resumed off of a long 32 week break for Matty Dunn and looked very strong at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago when doing so, so I am not knocking him at all off of that. He jumped awkwardly there but recovered well through the run until getting his chance in the straight and working home very well but his first up condition combined with the tough run just told late when headed into third. Go close here now.
