Wednesday Racing Tips - Eagle Farm Racecourse 03/01/24

Racing returns to Eagle Farm with seven races to be run and won at the course and we are looking to kick the year off in style as I have run through the seven race card and picked out my best betting spots. There are some high level contests on the card with Ladbrokes Yard Comments being the feature of the day, a BM75 sprint.

BEST BET - #4 - Exotique Miss (BEST BET)
Exotique Miss hasn’t put in a bad run in her six career starts, having checked the maiden win off and recently been clocking a bunch of sharp and close placings behind some good horses. Her most recent run saw her overcome a very wide draw to power home nicely and run into the placings. She draws well here, hard fit and with no weight on her back she should be running home well.

THE DANGER - #3 - What A Weekend 
What A Weekend has to rate highly coming a bit back in depth here and he does take on the top weight given his rating but gets a very key 3kg claim from the in form apprentice Molloy. I think he will be hard fit coming out of his Mile long race here a couple weeks ago and can get a much cheaper time of things on the speed here.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Leitzel
Only other real winning chance in this race is Leitzel for Chris Waller who shouldn’t be discounted or disrespected in this field. He has only had the three runs to kick his career off but has improved sharply between them and he came off a three week break last time out when stepping off the Heavy back onto Good grounding and combined with the 3rd up fitness he proved far too good when breaking maiden here last start. Well placed to win again.

BEST BET - #6 - Zouperb
Zouperb certainly will have to beat a higher level of competition here but he is shaping up to be a very strong horse for the Campton stable and off the back of how dominant his win last time out was I think he can go on with it now. He stepped out over the Murwillumbah 1200m when really knuckling down to draw clear of the field in the last 200m and never looked in doubt. Hard fit and the extra 100m looks find for his run style.

THE DANGER - #3 - O'miss Behaving
O’miss Behaving has to be given another look here for Rob Heathcoate. She ran so well first up in BM70 competition when flying home into the placings off not the easiest of runs before just getting no luck at this course last time out when not able to come on. She now shapes up hard fit third up here, softer field and gets a key claim from Molloy.

VALUE BET  - #5 - Tread Softly (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Tread Softly has not put a foot wrong recently and deserves a crack stepping up to this level of competition now. He’s had two runs for Sally Taylor since coming across to the camp and she has him going brilliantly. He was four weeks between runs when making his stable debut and winning well before coming back to racing five weeks between runs and winning again very sharply. Those contests weren’t the same level as this but he’s been so impressive in running that I can’t knock him here.

BEST BET - #11 - Jovita (NEXT BEST)
Wow Jovita is shaping up to be quite the horse for Lee Freedman and comes into this having now won three of his eight starts and placed in four of them. He is chasing a hat trick here after recording back to back wins on the Gold Coast Poly and I think he rates very highly with the splits / times he has been recording. Go well.

THE DANGER - #8 - Moktaffy
Moktaffy is an Irish Import of Chris Waller’s that took awhile to get going but now that he has I think he can go on with it. He ran a close runner up placing in the Heavy at Doomben two back and put the writing on the wall there before stepping out over the 1600m at Doomben again and winning very well. Can go on with it now.

VALUE BET - #7 - Binding
Another who looks quite sharp is Binding for Lee who seems to be placing his runners with a fair bit of intent in this race. Binding won very well two back at Ipswich before producing a bit of a luckless run last time out at Eagle Farm where he led to home but just wasn’t suited doing so when fading late. He maps to have a bunny to catch this time round and he runs much better when he does.
