Wednesday Racing Tips - Flemington Racecourse 20/12/23

Racing comes back to Flemington racecourse this Wednesday for a bumper seven race card that sees half a million dollars prize money on offer with the Resimax Group Kensington Stakes being the feature of the day, a listed race for a share of $200k prize money to run over the 1000m in race 7. I have run through the card and picked out my best betting spots so follow me below as I outline them below.

BEST BET - #9 - Glowlight
Has to be Glowlight in the opener here and I have already put a bet on her. She ran last time over this trip at Sandown last time out when sitting on the speed and boxing along well before her condition jsut gave way and she faded late behind a smart horse. She now shapes up hard fit, back at her home track and with no weight on her with Gaudray aboard.

THE DANGER - #4 - Acid Wash
Acid Wash posted some very good splits on debut for the McDonald camp before being badly held up at a crucial stage, losing all his momentum and then still showing enough talent to build the revs again and get going to place third. That was an extremely bold effort on debut and I can see why he comes into this as favourite.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Rewards And More (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Bound to be a talented horse is Rewards And More who has jumped out very very sharply for his racing debut for Jerome Hunter. The most recent of which saw him let down well to win smartly at Sandown a couple weeks ago. Craig Will gets the ride and he has a good strike rate for the camp. Well placed here.

BEST BET - #3 - Sans Doute (BEST BET) 
Strong BM70 here and I am keen on the Walker trained NZ raider in Sans Doute who has been working towards a win on local shores. She last raced at The Valley when completely against the track pattern and still was able to power home even when not a winning chance. She now gets in here very light and onto a track that will suit her run style, think she just wins.

THE DANGER - #2 - Joseylin
Joseylin is the joint favourite and a very honest chance for the Hayes boys here. She’s third up here and approaching hard fitness after having two runs back from a long 32 week spell and comes off of a sharp runner up placing at Warrnambool when not getting the most economical of runs but still chasing hard all straight. She maps for a much softer run this time in and should be strong here.

VALUE BET  - #1 - Arctic Fairy
Arctic Fairy is a well bred horse for the Ellerton camp that resumes in this race but she has a very good fresh record and is returning to racing on her home track here so can definitely make an impact. She last stpped out in the Sunlight Classic at the end of March when not doing much but she did look like she was headed to the paddock then. She’s jumped out very well for this and I think will be prominent here.

BEST BET - #3 - Najem Suhail (NEXT BEST)
Has to be Najem Suhail here, he just goes so well at Flemington, his recent runs have been good and he should be strong enough to win this. He recently stepped out on Oaks Day in the Century where he was only getting warm late behind Spacewalk. I think he has been saved for this race and with Shinn on he will have every chance.

THE DANGER - #2 - Malkovich 
Malkovich comes a long way back in depth for this and he is a bomb down the Flemington straight. He came back to racing at Rosehill in the Starlight when giving a very solid kick and just not being able to finish it off when third to Dragonstone. He has plenty of upside coming into this and will certainly make it a race.

VALUE BET - #1 - Halvorsen
Looking for runners proven down the straight and Halvorsen fits the profile perfectly. He comes out of the Century that Najem Suhail was in when running third and also only really getting into his stride late when beaten just shy of two lengths. He gets the booking of Mallyon who knows the horse well and can take this out without surprising me.
