Wednesday Racing Tips - Geelong Racecourse 24/04/24

Racing returns to Geelong this Wednesday for a bumper eight race meeting in Victoria and we see some very smart looking horses stepping out for our premiere Victorian stables. I have thoroughly run through the card and picked out my best betting spots in this article so follow me below as I outline the day’s racing at Geelong!

#6 - First Appearancee - $4.20

BEST BET - #4 - Ruakaka Raider (BEST BET)
Ruakaka Raider should be winning here at start number three to kick the career off for Cindy Alderson and I think getting out to 1600m third up looks the right kind of move for him. Both of his runs have come at Pakenham, showing good improvement last time out to hit the line very hard and keep coming late when just missing in a flash finish third. He shapes up very well off the back of that hard fit here and out further in trip.

THE DANGER - #6 - First Appearance
First Appearance comes here having her second start at the races for Mick Moroney and I think that she showed more than enough on debut at Pakenham at the beginning of the month to see her be competitive with natural improvement second up here. The form of those who have raced has been solid since and being a full sister to Tofane you’d think there’s going to be plenty to come from her.

VALUE BET  - #9 - Relentless Ruby
Relentless Ruby came back from a very long 28 week spell for the Forsman camp at Kyneton just over a week ago where she was solid given she hadn’t raced for some time but I really liked how she stuck on to her task around the turn despite being crowded for a run she just continued to build back into the race. I think she will be improved from the run and I am interested to see how she goes with more clear air here.

BEST BET - #7 - Amphactor (NEXT BEST)
I am steering away from the favourite because I just think he’s a milk drinker but in saying that Amphactor has just one win from thirteen runs. He does have five runner up placings however and three of them have come in his last four runs and I think after the way he looked last time out at Sandown he’s going to be tough to get past here. Williams aboard and plenty of time to work in the run at this trip. 

THE DANGER - #1 - Verifier
Verifier is the clear danger and looks very close to notching his second win. He’s got just the one in seventeen runs which makes me apprehensive but he gets out to the 2200m now and onto a bigger track. He also comes back in depth here with Mertens retaining the ride after the $130k Caulfield race that he came runner up in last time out. He should be tough to get past here. 

VALUE BET  - #3 - Future Monarch
Future Monarch is a smart horse for Danny O’Brien who has already won three and placed runner up in another two of his ten career starts. He comes here after winning over the mile when looking to have plenty of strength before stepping out at Caulfield in Saturday grade where he was out of his depth in terms of class. He should be ready for the rise in trip now and has run well at this course before.

BEST BET - #11 - Snippety Legend (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I am pretty keen to go wide in what looks like an open but even race between some of the top picks and Archie Alexander’s Snippety Legend drops in class and is set to improve second up. He had his first start for the camp when coming off of a 21 week break and making heaps of late ground between runners to finish just behind the placegetters and now should be stronger here second up and comes back in depth / quality

THE DANGER - #12 - Etincelle
Current running favourite and key danger for me is Etincelle for the Freedman’s. He comes here after two starts to kick the career off, both with Zahra aboard and the last seeing him break maiden at the beginning of the month and do so in nice style. That certainly won’t be the end of things for them and I think he can go on with it here but gets a nice test. 

VALUE BET - #10 - Vienna Vixen 
Vienna Vixen does her best work with fresh legs and is already a solid horse for Ciaron Maher with three wins and four runner up placings in twelve runs to kick the career off. She now comes here off of an eight week let up, with one fresh win and runner up placing in two fresh runs and should be strong here under Cartwright who gives him a key claim.
