Wednesday Racing Tips - Gosford Racecourse 10/04/24

Racing returns to Gosford again this Wednesday for a belter seven race card and we have $300,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in NSW this Wednesday as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

BEST BET - #3 - Nymphadora (BEST BET)
Competitive maiden but I really do think that Nymphadora should be breaking through at start number six, although being a six start maiden I understand is partially why she is this price. She was third up at Kensington last time out when being bumped at the 300m but still chasing hard to only just miss out in a driving go. I expect her to be even harder to beat here with any luck.

THE DANGER - #10 - The Eyes Have It
The only other raced horse in the field is Nathan Doyle’s The Eyes Have It who resumes from a 10 week break in this race. She last trialled on the Beaumont track at Newcastle when running home well and I think that first up over this trip looks very good for her. Should be running strongly here.

VALUE BET  - #8 - Obscure
Obscure has to be respected here for James Cummings on debut and he comes here after being scratched from today’s meeting at Kembla Grange so I think they want him with a bit of juice out the track and the recent trial win at Warwick Farm was very sharp. Draws well, in light and King’s aboard, stable rarely places their juveniles poorly.

BEST BET - #2 - Rattle And Hum (NEXT BEST)
Rattle And Hum looks to have come up brilliantly this prep for Mick Freedman and I think he will have plenty to offer coming into this third up. He stepped out at Newcastle three weeks between runs when second up and coming three wide in the straight to eventually take over at the 300m and never be in doubt from there. He still has upside off the back of that run and should be prominent here again.

THE DANGER - #5 - Piraeus
Piraeus has done pretty much everything bar winning in his last couple starts and loves racing here with a win and close placing in his two runs at the course. He comes out of a Wyong 2100m where he was only run down very late near the line after looking brilliant in the straight. He shapes up very well off the back of that run and will only be stronger here.

VALUE BET  - #3 - Vaguer
Vaguer just keep getting better and comes here chasing his fourth win in ten starts for Annabel Neasham and has been in brilliant form this prep thus far. He resumed over the mile as runner up at Canberra and has since put two on the trot, winning at Canberra over the 2000m before stepping out at Albury last time out and breaking clear of the field at the 200m to look very sharp over the 2400m and win again. He rates highly here.

BEST BET - #10 - Eye Of The Fire 
Eye Of The Fire debuted for Annabel Neasham at the end of last month at Beaumont over the 1200m on similar grounding we get tomorrow and ran a 1.10.78 there when incredibly impressive debuting. He crossed and led along the rails and never gave anything else a chance to get into the race when destroying them by a few lengths. I think he has plenty of upside here and am backing him to only be stronger now second up.

THE DANGER - #6 - Rapido
Rapido looks like he will be strong resuming for the first time as a Gelding for the Snowden’s and comes back here after going to the paddock a winner back in mid October at Newcastle. The form out of that race has been pretty good with a progressive horse winning since then. His trial to lead him back into racing was strong and he looks very well placed in a race like this.

VALUE BET - #4 - Cross Your Heart (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I am a big fan of the set up that Cross Your Heart gets here for John O”Shea and he’s had a brilliant start to his career so I think we don’t really know the ceiling of this guy until we know. He has clocked back to back wins in his past two, both coming at Wyong over the 1100m before stepping out a fortnight back when three weeks between runs and out to the 1200m, winning again and being ready to move onto metro racing. Well, he gets that now and with the claim from Roper and a good draw, he maps to have every chance here.
