Wednesday Racing Tips - Gosford Racecourse 24/01/24

Racing returns to Gosford again this Wednesday for a belter seven race card and we have $300,000 of prize money on offer across the card with some high level debutants at the races in NSW this Wednesday as well as some horses who are deeper into their preps and I am very keen on this card so let’s get stuck into things!

#12 - Fickle - $2.10

BEST BET - #12 - Fickle
Fickle is very short in the market for the Snowden’s but I think it is somewhat justified after her debut run which reads a lot better when you look at it rather than just on paper. He was forced wide in the run and still sat on the speed before having to shift wider in the straight and still managing to hold on there in a nice debut effort. Will be fitter now, sharper and with Clark aboard he only runs well, the one to beat.

THE DANGER - #5 - Artemis Arrow
Artemis Arrow looks primed for start one off the back of a bunch of sharp trials for Sara Ryan and I think that given how well the stable goes at this course he has to be given a bit of respect here. His most recent trial saw him really get going through the run to win the trial well at this track and now Buckley sticks for start one and he will surely be running well here.

VALUE BET  - #13 - Starmae (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Starmae showed a bunch of promise last prep for Bjorn Baker when recording two very close runner up placings in the three runs she had to kick off her career and returned to racing at the Gold Coast but he really wasn’t himself there when factitious in the barriers and then taken back from the wide gate and never really in the race. I think he will be a lot sharper now and has to be given another chance.

BEST BET - #10 - Rockin' Millie (BEST BET) 
You would have to think Rockin’ Millie gets the maiden win out of the way now at start number four. He has placed runner up in all three of his career starts and comes back to racing here since last August. He’s had a few sharp trials to lead him back into racing with the latest being a win at this course and I think he will be tough to beat here.

THE DANGER - #3 - Maximum Ride 
Maximum Ride made a very impressive debut last time out for the Lane stable and has to rate highly here with natural improvement second up. He set third along the rails then at Muswellbrook before weaving a path inside and running home well into second place there. Should be sharper coming into this now.

VALUE BET  - #7 - Catchy Tunes 
Catchy Tunes has been steadily improving with each run and comes into this after a close fourth placing at Musswellbrook where he was trapped three wide with no cover and shifted out even wider in the straight to find a gap and once he did he came on very well to finish just behind the placegetters. There’s been a subsequent winner out of that race already so with all that said I think he goes well here.

BEST BET - #1 - Memoria (NEXT BEST) 
Memoria comes back to racing off of a 20 week spell here for Kris Lees and he’s been quite impressive thus far in his 12 start career with three wins and five placings. Two of those wins have come fresh as he is undefeated when fresh so coming here off of two sharp trials and ready to make it three from three first up he rates highly.

THE DANGER - #5 - Triskelion 
Triskelion has to be some sort of chance here for the Snowden’s after making a sharp debut over the 1100m at Canterbury where he set third along the fence and was then held up between the 300m to 150m but once he found a split at the 100m where he jetted away in a promising debut. Has to rate well here off the back of that.

VALUE BET - #4 - A Guinea 
A Guinea is a bomb fresh horse who should be going well here upon resuming for David Pfieffer and having his first start for the stable. His two first up runs have seen him win and run a very close runner up placing and he now comes here off the back of two trials, I think he runs well.
